Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Wow dude. That makes me almost tear up. My dad LOVES OS Trek as well and it's a real bond for us. I bought him a cast signed Star Trek II mini movie poster ( legit ) for Christmas a few years back and he couldn't believe it.

I have the QVC plaque signed by the original cast as well.

Part of the reason I collect is because it makes me think of my childhood and all the movies we would go see together. We usually would go for Chinese and then whatever Sci Fi or action movie that was out. My mom hated chinese because back in the day they put mag in it . :lol

It really is great memories. I can remember EVERY single Trek movie when I went to see it with my dad ( my mom came to see 2, 3 and 5 with us ). I remember every line we stood in and every theator like it was yesterday.

You are right. It is amazing what you remember. The first one I remember was Return of the Jedi.

My mom took me to see ROTJ with one of my childhood friends who I am still friends with today and his mom. We got to stay home from school to go see it. Both my folks took me to see ESB while we were on vacation at Virgina Beach and they took me to see the original Star Wars as well when I was 4 years old. I still remember it...especially Luke blowing up the Death Star and wondering what happened to Darth Vader after he flew away :lol

You guys... :monkey2

I'm going to see the new one opening night with my six year old son and my father-in-law. I'm *really* looking forward to it. Hopefully the movies keep coming so we can make a tradition of it! :rock

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

I like it since it literally blurs the line between the Enterprise of the original show and the new movie. At least it's not another floating head poster. And I don't think it's a fake since it was posted on the official Star Trek myspace page.

I do think painted posters are a lost art. Bob Peak did some of the best ones ever.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

It has a weird retro vibe to it.

I would love if they did something like the Bob Peak artwork.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Everything's a photoshop manip nowadays- but this poster might be cool if it was in in color. One of my favorite keyart ever is the first Star Trek the motion picture image.

Bob Peak did some great work as did Drew Struzan...

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Saw a trailer for this earlier today... the first time I saw one I was really blown away, this time it was a bit blah. Still looks cool, but I'm afraid they might go too much action flick and not enough SciFi.

Still looking forward to it, just worried it might not be as awesome as I want it to be.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

not a hardcore trekkie but saw snippets of the trailer few times...........might see this movie this summer!..it's FREAKIN' HOT!

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Just saw the QMx Enterprise at the Arclight. Apparently this is part of a promotion where Paramount has given the ship model to a bunch of different modern artists to paint it as they'd like. Just like the Darth Vader helmet thing a couple years back.

Two other ships were on display with the QMx version - one done up like a UPS truck and the other in ugly red/green supposedly to look like a chameleon.

I hope this is a prototype for QMx, but somehow I doubt it.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

He means he hopes that its a proto for QMx so they will actually produce it but he doubts its anything more than promotional if I read his post correctly.
