Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Anyone know how I could dl the HD trailer to my computer?

You can go here: Dave's Trailer Page

The new Star Trek trailer should be right on the front page under the date 06-03-09 (scroll down a bit until you see the list of resolution choices, 720p, 1080p, etc). Right Click on the resolution you want, and choose "save link" or "save target as" (depends on your browser).

That's usually how I dl trailers.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Hell yeah that was epic. I hope the movie lives up to these trailers.

I'm really looking forward to it. The effects and all look great and above all the movie looks fun.

I like Trek. I don't love it and I don't hate it.

I've seen all the movies (and enjoyed some of them). And have only seen a few episode from each series (my Uncle loves Trek so it's usually with him).

I tried getting into Enterprise from the beginning, but then I just stopped. It could have been soooo much better. A wasted opportunity.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

As discussed at WonderCon, Abrams is keeping it canon, and courtesy of time travel it'll be both a sequel and prequel. There'll be plenty of Trek references for the fanboys but it'll still be accessible to non-Trekkers. I couldn't be happier!

Still weird having someone other than Shatner playing Kirk. Hell is about to freeze over ...

QMx is doing a replica of the Enterprise from this film:

That looks AWESOME! Thanks for posting that!

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

I'm really looking forward to it, and I loved Nero's line in the trailer "James T. Kirk was a great man, but that was another life." Ideally the movie will end with Kirk giving a speech similar to the OS opening and we get the chimes to go along with it. When they did it for the one trailer it was just.. perfect.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

The line where the bad guy screms, 'Fire Everything!' really had me at the edge of my seat.....man, this look good.....

special effects look incredible, but the trailer had a lot of great character moments in it...

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

I don't mean to get ahead of ourselves or to jinx this film, but...

Let's say this film is huge. Where does Trek go then? It would seem silly to launch a new next-gen era (or later) television show after the franchise is revitalized by a TOS movie. A new TOS era series? I doubt they could reassemble the film cast for television and I'm not sure a tv show keep this new audience entertained on a tv budget.

Where do we go from here?

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Who says it has to go anywhere? (somewhere, a legion of Trekkies are leering at me)

A serial tv show isn't really necessary. Maybe they'll just do a trilogy of movies that, if they align all the character backgrounds and story points right, could just lead into the original ST series.

If the movie is a sucess, I'm sure they'll do another one. I hope they don't do a tv show based on this. If they want to do another show, there are plenty of other directions they could go.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Yep - a trilogy of features with the new cast is the most likely. You don't get a feature cast to appear in a series.

I agree... a TV series won't happen. But a really good set of 3 movies, leading up to the OS? That will happen if this is a hit, which it looks like it might end up being.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Everytime I see the trailer I get pumped to see this. If its as good as the trailer shows I could see a series of movies!! :rock

If this movie kicks @$$ like I hope it will, I'd like to see a trilogy of features with the new cast.

Unless they did a TV series with a different take on Star Trek, I'd rather they didn't do one.
