Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

He means he hopes that its a proto for QMx so they will actually produce it but he doubts its anything more than promotional if I read his post correctly.

Correct. In the QMx newsletter they never said it was a prototype for an upcoming product. I'm thinking they just did it as part of the "artists" promotion.

I like Damon Lindelof.

FOR SURE!

The score is also done by the amazing Michael Giacchino, whose music on LOST has been phenomenal and a huge part of the show. I can't wait to hear his score during the film. :)

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

This gets complicated but its not technically a prequel and not technically a reboot. If the rumors are true then

The enemy goes back in time to stop James T. Kirk from ever becoming captain of the Enterprise. So if/when he fails the time continuity changes making all other Star Trek movies null and void.

So its a unique situation to say the least.

Re: J.J. Abrams' Star Trek

Well, that's one way to wipe the slate clean, I guess...

I've been resisting this re-boot since I first read about it a couple of years ago, and gotta say, while they look real slick, the trailers haven't fully won me over yet....but one thing is chipping away at my resistance....

I picked up the comic "prequel" to the new movie, "Star Trek Countdown" and it's actually pretty damned good. It introduces the new film's "villain" and the back story that leads him up to the film. But even more interesting is how the comic story is a great "send-off" to the "Next Generation" era...featuring appearances by some of those characters that are integral to the plot and not just shoe-horned in. In fact, this comic is a better send-off for them than that last movie "Nemesis" was.

I'm actually looking forward to this movie now...I've always liked "Star Trek"...it's had it's ups and downs, but over the last 40+ years, it's managed to entertain...here's hoping the folks who've got the torch now can give it a decent run...

Just finished the comic prequel, and it really sets the stage well for the film. It will be nice to have a grasp of the villain going in. It's also nice to see them bridge the gap between Nemesis and the new movie--something I wasn't expecting. It will be fun knowing who built Spock's ship, for example.

Hey, I'm still with Kevin Smith on this one. He loved this and Watchmen and I loved that, so I am extremely excited to see this movie.

Not a Trek fan, but this just looks like a killer ^^^^ing action movie to me, which is all the reason I need to go see this!

Well, it was a smart move on their part to pull something fun like this for the fans...the buzz is good and I gotta say, without ruining it for folks, I'm liking the creative way JJ et al are getting around canon.

After checking out "Countdown" and reading some positive great advance word like what's coming out of these two screenings, I'm ready to check this out....now we've got a month to wait! Of course, by then the mainstream medi will have chimed in (I don't expect it to be so kind)...but bring it on!

This weekend I bought Apple Jacks. Not because I like Apple Jacks. Because of this:

I got the Klingon one. I'll be back for the rest. I suspect I will be eating a lot of Kellogs products in the coming weeks: https://trekmovie.com/2009/03/26/report-on-kelloggs-star-trek-movie-promotions/
