Both are winners IMO. The Original Spidey Comi has presence. You walk into a room and its the first thing your eyes are drawn to. The size, pose, outstanding base, and colors were/are something to behold. My only issues were the lack of a nose and the shape of the head (just a tad too round) other then that a perfect statue.

Not having seen the new one in person I can't say for sure but I will try anyways.

This will not have the presence of the original Comi. It's just not as dynamic or as big. However I believe it is better sculpted (love the fact that you can tell he is wearing a suit) and the better painted (love the color scheme they used) if they pull it off it will be a beautiful statue just not one with great presence like the original. I do feel that this new statue somehow captures the personality of Spidey more.

Now Spidey being a Teen, means that the 1/5 scale IMO will be just fine. The only thing that might hold this back is how the eye emotions translate in real life.

All of this is just how I feel. I had the original and really liked it. Had to sell for $$$ reasons. If I still owned it I would not feel any need to get this one. Not that its not wonderful. I just don't think it's ay better then the first one.

Having said that, if I owned the new one first and the original comi came out later I don't think I would feel the need to get that one either.

Now if I was a die hard spidey fan I would own both!!:lecture:lecture

I'm Team Campbell. :lol

New>Old....based on pics alone.

Just an opinion though.

We all get to have one! An opinion of course. I think both spideys are great looking statues but the OG CQ will reign supreme at my house!
(Jessica too)

So what is a Spidey (*cough* 976) fan that owns neither? :dunno

The Campbell Spidey is amazing in person. The fingers are a little long, but it has presence. It's amazing. If you don't have the original Comi, this one is a fine alternative. I think the colors on this one are a bit better, to be honest.

I agree with Jaws. I'm a die hard fan and I will have both. There is no other way.

I think the Olivetti Comiquette will continue to be my favorite statue, not just of the Spidey Coms but of any statue. But I'm eagerly awaiting this new one as well.

About Spidey being a teen, he could be a teen for this comiquette as he knew Gwen Stacey during his college years. But Spidey's been a non-teen adult since the 70s.

Lol I wasn't around back then. But I read all of that era. He graduated from college in the 70s and wasnt a teen. MY SPIDEY FACTS WILL NOT BE CONTESTED!!!!

I don't think marvel knew how right they had it when they let spidey be an adult

THIS, is a great post :lecture

Sometimes i think fandom is smarter then everyone else. But that also gets proved wrong a lot too.

Peter Parker - science teacher? Perfect

Nerdy high school Peter was spot on! Why not just keep him that way forever. Heck, Bart Simpson has wore the same clothes everyday for over 20 years and hasnt grown an inch :rotfl

:lol. I wouldn't dare Peedi

Lol jus playing dude...mostly... :wink1:

Ultimate comics is really what put in people's heads Peter as a high school Spidey for a that long. In the original comics he was rushed into college within the 1st 2 years of ASM. Most of the Spidey stories we love or know about are from the college years. The mistake was rushing him out of college...young enough to still be in school, but old enough to deal with bills and other adult issues without being confined to one high school setting like Ultimate Spidey was. Best of both worlds.
