Great paint job. Judging from this pic though, Jabba looks underscale by a lot. He might work well with the medicoms.

Jabba's definitely not underscaled. He's not nearly as big as you'd think, especially height-wise. He's shorter than Han Solo. In ROTJ, they used camera angles that made him look larger than he was. Plus, he sat on top of his dais, which made him really tower over the rest of the room.

Yup, you can see Bib's taller.

Not sure how to take this post, but i don't think it's a good thing.

Anyway, I see your point about Jabba. I guess he just appears to be underscaled especially with 3po.

And interestingly the Hasbro C-3PO is a bit oversized... not bad for what he is, but hopefully Sideshow will make him a bit shorter and of course more detailed/articulated.

Finally grabbed the big guy and throne off ebay for pretty much cost. Its the EX Jabba too. Now I have no idea where I'm going to display this thing though. Wife's not going to be too pleased either, but it was a good price and I had to jump on it.

Now I just need the Gammy Guard and the creature pack with Crumb.

jabba is the only sideshow star wars figure i have, and to this day ,i think jabba is still sideshow's best, star wars figure.

You certainly don't need to strip the paint. Whether you want to prime it or not is an individual decision. You don't need an airbrush -- regular brushes can work fine.

Do you this guy will ever get an update/rerelease?

For those of you that have him, how does he stand up to today's collectibles? Seems like many are opting to pay for custom repaints...

One thing in Sideshow's favor: they've never done a re-do like HT does. No 2.0's.

The closest to repeats are the clones with color variants. Or characters like Luke in different gear.

Ya, that's what I figured. :( I'm waiting for a 1/6 Palpatine/Throne to get here sometime next week since I figured they wouldn't even consider re-releasing Palpatine with so many thrones still in stock. I think it's been over 4 years for Jabba/throne right? I guess I'll go hunting for it and some previously released Jedi after SDCC shows us this upcoming year's 1/6 figures.

Dunno, I could kinda see HT revisiting Jabba in the next 5 yrs or so. A new Jabba with PERS glassy eyes and a more accurate paint job would be pretty cool. If it doesn't happen, meh, saves me money on the secondary market and display space.

Never. I'll never turn to the Secondary Market. You have failed, your highness. I am a thrifty collector, like my father before me.

I don't think Sideshow would ever do another 1/6 scale Jabba, since pretty much anyone who wants one will already have one. They took forever to sell out of the standalone figures. I'm also not sure what they could do to improve on it. Hot Toys could add a lot in terms of paint apps (although the question of what colors to use is complicated, as I've written about here). They could theoretically make something using silicone that would allow for much more posability than the Sideshow version, but it would also cost hundreds of dollars. I don't see it happening.
