It would take rewriting a lot of the OT, but what if no mention was made of Jabba, nor what Boba Fett was planning to do with Han after taking posession of Solo, and at the end of ESB, you have Luke and Leia worrying about Han, Chewie and Lando setting off to try and track down Boba Fett, and the last scene is Fett delivering Solo to Jabba and you present him and the palace as scary place and make Solo's fate seem even worse and leave people a bit more on edge as to what'll become of Han.

I would argue that the untouched OT basically did what you are describing. Jabba was only alluded to until ROTJ. It was only by unnecessarily adding Jabba to ANH (and making him an almost comical figure in the process) that Lucas destroyed the tension felt about Jabba and Han's fate.

Sentiment shared. It was the cartoon looking Jabba in the Special Edition that broke it.

I had never thought about that... very good point. One of the more subtle ways George f'd up ROTJ. That coupled with "Jedi Rocks" makes Jabba's sequence hard to watch on the SE.

...and the CW show has taken Jabba to the point where he's just another single working Dad looking out for his little worm. No more menace, no more mystery. Sigh.

Oh and BTW...

Anyone who wants to display their SSC ESB Fett with Jabba can use this awesome print as inspiration:

Vey cool painting, Khev! Where'd it come from/who did it?

That's some pretty incredible work. After the Jabba scene, my favourite is Vader with his TIE prototype. This is really the first Star Wars art I've seen that I would consider buying and framing, but I get the impression from the RS thread that most of what Carre creates is private commission work and will never be available as a print.

thanks, icruise....

Did a google search on him - quite an impressive body of work, spanning a lot a different stuff.

Great piece of artwork back there.

I joined the Jabba club today:

That Hasbro Gamorrean bandit sure looks funny now!

Congrats on the Jabba - love that fig...

But don't knock the Hasbro Gammy - I used most of one of them to create the figure in the middle (Hasbro body, legs/feet, shoulder armor, wrist armor, pleather tunic, underpants.) SSC parts were a cast head (did that myself), hands, fur, belt/strap, undershirt and weapon.

He's an impressive figure.

Nice work there.

It's the painting on the face of the Hasbro that I find funny. The figure itself was well made.

I'm tempted to repaint the face, to lessen the masked bandit appearance.

Wow man, very impressive kitbash... he looks great with the Sideshow figure. Better than Gartogg which would be 95% the same :lol

And Kuat, repaint that Hasbro. Won't cost you much and honestly it can really be polished. I repainted mine back before Sideshow offered there's; aside from the overall proportions of he figure beeing to squat the actual sculpting is quite good. The outfit isn't awful either, but needed to be dirtied up a bit.

The Hasbro looks great! Now that I have Jabba, I've thought about picking up a Gammy, but I have no clue which one to get! The regular Gammy or the named one?

George effed up so many great intros with the SE's. :lol

Awesome Millienium Falcon reveal "what a piece of junk" ruined by instead introducing it in the background of the lame Jabba scene.

Awesome Executor bridge reveal of Boba Fett ruined by him mugging for the camera with SE Jabba.

Awesome Shuttle Tydirium reveal at the beginning of ROTJ ruined by terribly inserted CG shuttle at the end of ESB:SE.

And of course Jabba himself as has already been mentioned.

More interesting points... I guess I've watched the SE so little that I never really paid much attention to all they messed up. Of course the PT totally ruins the reveal of Vader being Luke's father in ESB :lol

What really annoys me about the Vader reveal is if George hadn't been so focused on the money-shot of seeing Anakin be named Vader and then put on the mask, I think it could have been shot in a way that Vader's history was not explicitly revealed. Anakin could turn, get in league with Sidious, but then appear to be killed at the end, just don't add anything past him burning. Those in the know would still be aware of what happens, but first time viewers would have to wait until ESB to find out Vader's actual history

Sure, Obi Wan defeating him and seemingly killing him would cause problems for new watchers when he first explains that Vader killed Luke's father... but you could also later justify/explain it away with the same response he give's Luke in ESB.

Just bugs me that one of the greatest twists of cinema got a spoiler from a mediocre prequel :lol

Oh, back on-topic:
Personally I'd go with the Regular Gammy... they are pretty much identical but prefer the closed mouth expression.
