Thanks Toe!

This looks great! Is it still in your basement?

Thanks guys. Its no where near finished yet, but after the effort of applying the spackling to it, and paint and carrying it back downstairs I figured I owed it to myself to take some pics. I've been keeping a photo record to help anyone else who wants to attempt it. Tonight I will be working on the back deck and the rear wall. I have to go to Lowes tomorrow for some lumber to finish the steps and I intend on using spray adhesive on the floor and covering it with sand.

I have the back wall, the back platform, one set of steps and the archway textured and painted.
I still need to work the back chimney alcove, the steps to the left and the bottom of the arch as well as the main floor.
Its really a lot of fun doing something this big.

Whoa..... that is just breath taking and really what this piece calls for. It's very creative and

Good Job, can't wait to see updated pics of the finished work.

Thanks guys. I did a little more work on it.

I put in the cracks in the arch as well as a magnet inside the arch to hold up the whatchamacallit with the tongue thingy, added another piece to the inner arch near the steps and notched the other stairs to fit into the arch.

and here's a closer view of the one set of completed steps.

The best part about it is that is modular so it can be disassembled and moved if necessary.
I'm going to put removable archways in the back as well that connects the arch to the rear wall.
Next up is making the removable 'chimney alcove' behind the BBQ finish the steps on the left, and spray some adhesive on the floor and sprinkle sand over it.
Not sure if I should attempt a trap door but more than likely I will.

When its finished I'll post dimensions and materials to help out anyone who wants to attempt one. Its pretty inexpensive all in all, maybe about $50 so far and about 15 hours worth of work.

Can't wait to see Andy! I'm sure yours is putting mine to shame. If you have time please send me another email since I still can't see the pics online. I really want to make mine up to par. Thanks!

This is awesome. I've my Jabba's throne on display for awhile now, and I never thought to do this. Doh! This is a great idea!! And it'll make for a better display of my George Lucas in carbonite! (yeah, not Han, a custom from a friend in Japan)

Cool way to display the "magnet" figure!

I have most of the construction done now. All thats left is to connect the left steps together, do a couple fill in pieces and cut the archways that will secure the back wall to the arch but in a removable fashion.
So just for fun I dressed it out with some Hasbro guys as a mock up.

Sand has been glued to the floor for that homey Tatooine feel.

And thanks everyone for the kind words.

Wow, that looks fantastic :rock

What a fitting set-up for the king of 1/6 Star Wars items... yeah I said it, the King!
