Jack Reacher

Just got back. True to book in almost every way. Minor differences.

Pretty damn good movie. Main villain was never important. Even in the book. He got a bit more character, but eh.

As for Cruise, yeah...he was Jack Reacher. Totally nailed 70% of the character. But lost 30% due to his size. S'ok. He worked. I love the little nods. They did understand the character at his core. Which is important.


However, for you non readers...It's not an action movie. There's action, but like the book, it's a thriller first and formost.

This is one of the better Cruise flicks. 8/10

Good to hear. I heard that some stuff was edited because of the recent shooting....

But yea, the Jack Reacher books are not action filled. Reacher not only can crush your spine and then shove your head up your ass, he is also someone that can out think your every move.

Will be seeing it tomorrow.

I think you'll dig it. They stick really close to the book, but not close enough it feels congested. The first 20 or so minutes are so spot on.

Also...Jack Reacher knocks a guy out using....

I have just seen this movie and i was not expecting much of it, but i was surprised, it's a great movie!

Thought it was alright. Was spot on books for the first 30 min or so when went off on it's own I guess from the hotel murder scene on. The ending was completely different.

Tom was decent but at times looked cheesy spewing some of the lines though.

The chick playing Helen had some nice bewbs, too.

The Chevelle looked and sounded awesome. Too bad it got smashed up. . .

Looking at the box office, too bad this will prolly be the only Reacher movie.

Shame too. Despite everything, Tom did do a good job, IMO. Not the best Reacher possible, but good enough.

I hope it'll pick up soon. I want to see Persuader.

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie of The Usual Suspects fame. There are some great flourishes that you don't expect from a straightup action movie and some great character beats too. Rosamund Pike gives a really excellent performance here too - and while Cruise's performance isn't nuanced, it's not supposed to be.

However there are scenes that are really over the top, compounded by the 70s TV action music that makes it more melodramatic than it should be. But still much better than I had expected.

Just saw it and loved this as a thriller. I went into it expecting a bit of a mindless action flick but I was pleasantly surprised. Thought Cruise did a great job. I really hope they do at least one more Reacher flick with him.

What a corny movie this was, but I still really liked it. I enjoyed its nonchalant grimness and how at odds it was with the cheesy dialogue.

Not a bad film...would love to see a "Burke" Novel from the series written by Andrew Vacchs become a film...highly recommended..."Flood" was the first novel...nice good easy and well detailed read
