Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Hmmm,

For me it's one of those 'almost, but not quite' sculpts. He's just like DC in that nobody has done a definitive one.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It's got some artist license of course, and you have to remember with all sculpting, you're freezing the subject, something that you're not used to seeing in the third dimension and which has already a somewhat unnatural feeling to it. It's this static freeze effect that's always the hardest thing to overcome in sculpture, and in facial sculpture, what makes the difference between a great sculpture and a masterpiece. It takes that last 1% to make something life-like. At least the sculpt wasn't based on an odd-ball still frame giving a completely awkward expression.

However, IMO the Maximus painted Connery is far better that any painted Craig we've seen to date. And just about the best Bond Connery that's been done to this point as well.

Hi!One mor messadge from Trev. For future.

Thanks again,Gidons:)
I would love to work on a Daniel Craig Bond this year...I just don't know when I can make time for it yet. I just watched Casino Royale last night. :)

Sorry I don't have a definite answer....my schedule is just busy at the moment.

Eastwood news should be up pretty soon, whenever Denny decides to share the finished photos. I am trying to finish him this week.

best-
Trev

Trev's doing an Eastwood sculpt? That should really be worth seeing!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm going to dump some images into another thread once I've finished off the rest. For now I wanted to share the one I'm going to use for my Craig 1/6 sitting in my Detolf. The image is 15.5" tall and 24.5" wide which will allow it to wrap one side and the back of a single Detolf shelf with a nice loose radius. I plan to back-light mine so it won't be pressed up against the glass.

Here is the original image my composite is based on of you want different proportions. BTW, the image above is not just a crop of the one below.

Is that the same car from CR (the DBS I believe it was)? Looks cool. Curious to see your shelf!

It's going to be a little while before that shelf is done. ;) Still don't have a figure to put on it. I'm waiting on the Brothers Production MI6 for which I also have a Headplay head and some extras. It's supposed to be released this month, but we know how that goes. I'd like to make clay cobbles to put down on the floor in front of that background image too and have a package of DAS sitting here but need the time to knock out some bricks.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Very nice,

With a setting like that you're going to want the best Bond there is. Has there been a worthy one yet, hmmmm.................

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm almost done with my Silva. I had to shrink the head a bit, so I cast the shrunken version in a flesh tone to see how hard it would be to match a body (this is too brown)... and I wasn't going to post any pics till he's cast, but dunno, I just thought the off-white clay of the hair and eyebrows looked cool.

Just need to texture his skin a bit and he's ready to cast! Of course, then he's naked till Natchan finishes her set.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'm sure it'll look great when fully finished, it has a sort of Gerry Anderson look to it right now. Looking forward to seeing a finished example.

its off to a great start. One critique I have is the nose.

Javier's is so big, but flat

here's a side profile to see what I mean

images

the nose extends all the way up to his brow almost, with no curvature at all, its weird

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I think that's a terrific start, leia! Love that you shared.

Is that the one you will ultimately update with the nasty open mouth?

I agree about the nose. It's definitely a prominent feature because its so distinctive. He has a very asymmetrical face in almost all his features; lips shifted to one side, nose the same... and his eyes, nose and lips are very large.

When I look at that reference, it looks like it is less flat than my sculpt rather than more - it has a bump and hook mine doesn't. Huh. Guess I'll add to that a bit when I work on it again tomorrow! :) Thanks for the feedback.

I'm reaching the end of my patience for him, though, so I don't know if I'll work on him too much longer. He's just a personal project. I'll post pics again when I start doing his scary mouth version!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I have never been able to find an image wider than 600 pixels of the new ZCWO AB02. And it's probably for good reason. ;)
