With age comes perspective and discretion. Oh, and sometimes... wisdom and proper grammar (though the internet is slowly killing both).

As an English tutor for five years, I would like to inform you that there should be a space between each dot of an ellipsis. (. . .) and I was also taught to capitalize "Internet" for safety. Of course, I do no follow such rules on teh internetz.

There's no way I can put double spaces between my ellipsis. I use them far too liberally and I doubt there's enough bandwidth to sustain it. :lol

I can see Ironwez20's frustration.
Yes, we get it that some of you did not like the movie, but why do you insist on running it down?
It's like me constantly posting on Whedonville that the guy is a one hit wonder. I don't because I respect the fan base there

Its a discussion board, not a circle-jerk. Expect disagreement.

I don't see anyone running it down. People are just expressing their opinions. I person liked it. The story was ok but the FX blew me away. First time in a 3D movie I have ever had a reflex to dodge something coming out of the screen. :lol Its the follow up from others who can't believe everyone didn't love their movie as much as they did, which is at the core of this discussion.

For example:

poster a) OMGz this movie was the most awesome thing evarrrr!!!!

poster b) it had cool effects but it wasn't the greatest movie I have ever seen.

poster a) why u b hatin on my movie? ur jus jealous n stuff.

poster b) How old are you again?

poster a) what does that have to do with any thing?

Was that a pretty good summation?

I agree completely here. Everytime someone tries to make conversation somewhere about the topic of the thread some random post is made by people who aren't interested which ends up changing the subject. :monkey1:rotfl

And so without futher ado... :lol

I don't mind constructive criticism, but I feel some of you seem to think we must be retarded Fanboys if we happen to think this movie was a modern day classic.

Avatar nominated for a WGA award.

So a bunch of writers thought this was one of the 5 best scripts of 2009? Gee, perhaps it's not such a poor story after all?

Or maybe a bunch of writers aren't as bright as we thought. Haha. There's always another explanation.

So much for the theory that linear/formulaic automatically equals bad.

This movie is an unabashed rehash of the hero quest and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of movies that do the same story in ways that doesn't engage or exhilarate an audience and "Avatar" isn't one of them.

Any hack can throw some retarded twist in that is bizarre enough to stop people from playing the "predictable" card but it takes skill to engage people with a variation on a story they've heard regularly over the courses of their lives and that's obviously why Cameron's writing is being recognized.

The WGA is comprised of people trained to write by Hollywood formula. Of course they think Avatar is one of the five best scripts of the year!

What's peein' and squeein' mean?
That's a new one on me.

Peeing ones self with excitement. Squeein... well I am not even sure what it means exactly. :lol... It's British and I think it has to do with getting so excited over something you have an asthma attack. :lol

Not you specifically. Just a generalization about what the direction this thread was heding toward. Which is a discussion about an element of fandom which you sort of got yourself into the middle and you may have gotten singed in the crossfire. :) :peace
