Well a T-600 is supposed to be around 8 feet tall and the Na'vi are around 9ft to 10ft.

Hot Toys have never been truly to scale on their figures if you compare the Predator to Dutch, so who knows how big the Na'Vi figure will be

That is how I view nerds trying to weigh in on movies that were purely made for entertainment.

Song of the South was made purely for entertainment. You won't find many people trying to claim it doesn't have racist depictions of black people. So that line of thought doesn't wash.

I don't think Avatar is evidence Cameron is racist so much as racially insensitive. That's a different thing, and not such a big deal in this context IMO. Still, it's a bit silly to have a cast of minorities saved by a white guy in a 21st century film about colonial exploitation.

I never measured it out but my Termi is quite a bit larger than my JC and possibly why all the TS boxes are 14", not the same height as the TDk boxes I have which are 12.5" I think? So as for the sake of the Avatar box that now would have to be 16" then... WOW! :horror

:lol how kind of you. Damn people are really stretching for reasons to hate on this movie. Since when did the natives suddenly become a race? Last time I checked Na'vi wasn't a race.

I disliked the movie ... and even I didn't think it was racist. It was harder on white people than any other race (blue, black, native, whatever).

I don't hate the movie. Try using your thinking cap for a moment. If somebody says there's a difference between racism and racial insensitivity, what do you think that means?

I don't know how old you are, but I assume old enough at least to have read a history textbook. Think about the ways racism and colonial exploitation are linked. Think about the historic depictions and visibility of minority characters in cinema. Then think about how all of those things might generate a resonance in a film about colonial exploitation where all the exploited natives are played by minorities while the savior is played by a white man.

Now of course those resonances need not be intentional - and I doubt they are. All the villains in Avatar are white guys, too, for example. And while Cameron almost exclusively casts white people in his films, he hasn't traditionally done so in a way that hints at intentional racism. But it's the 21st century and one expects intelligent people to have a little more awareness of what they're doing and the context in which it's going to exist. That's the insensitivity I mention. I don't think it's deliberate and I don't think it's racist.

But this isn't an all or nothing thing. Real life is more complicated than that.

First it was plagarism and copying....Now it's racism.....

I'm curious to see the next big complaint people will come up with about this movie! :D

It's simply a beutiful SF movie........It's meant to entertain, if you're not entertained, OK, shame you spent money and 3 hours of your life, if you are entertained, great! You can add it to the list of movies you like...simple as that..

It's a softporn, it's sexually exploiting cause the Navi are almost always almost completely naked......

OK isn't Cameron a bit of a freak thinking that he is the creator of a universe trying to copy the success of Star Wars as he has put so much research and work into all and everything Pandora e.g. language, planet inhabitants, even plant life that shows up only for a frame or two and still have names and specs

Do I really need to say this?

It is a ____ing movie. If you people have race issues why don't you deal with the bigger race problems in the this world.

Sorry, that ridiculous comment just ruined your entire argument.

In other words, you can't come up with a response to my previous post. :)

But seriously, that comment doesn't "ruin" anything but the utility of using "it's just a movie" as an argument. Because guess what? Those were just movies, too.

Have you read anything I've written?

No, my argument is a movie and it works because we all know Cameron's intent was to NOT bash a race or put down a race or call out a race or have any negative racial intentions. The fact that you apparently THINK this is just insane.

The man wrote a story that has been done many times before, one race taking over another race. This is in no way being derogatory against another race in the sense you think it is.

Now that I think of it, Return of the Jedi is racist too...
I mean... WTH, why did Ewoks needed a Wookie to help them defeat the Empire?... seriously...

Do you think intent is the only consideration? Are minstrel depictions still racist if the creators weren't actively intending them to be so? Or do you think things could be more complicated than that?

I have explicitly said I don't think this. You might find it helps if you take the time to read people's posts before responding to them.
