Well Cameron has never had an original idea of his own, so I can understand the hate. And since when does it make it okay to completely rip something off just because it was written in the 50s?

Oh c'mon you have to give him the original Terminator, and The Abyss had it's moments.
But other than those I'm inclined to agree.

It doesnt but without reading the book itself, many dont give validity to chud. Some say his hatred for avatar has him making things up. I really dont care if Cameron ripped it off or not. As long as Avatar is quality entertainment. Even if that story was part of the backbone as he was an avid reader of old fiction novels, he has created an entire universe here and it will be fun to explore it.

I just dislike haters who form an opinion before they see the goods. Not saying you personally but many who just want to troll.

BTW lightwave, I forgot to tell you how awesome the photos on the cardbacks of the Avatar action figures look. The characters look pretty much like an actual, physical being, even in the fairly lo-res photos. They had a depth about them that wasn't so apparent in the first trailer. I think it may be the skin that looks better. Have you seen the action figures yet?

Yeah and I have to check out target to see if they have them in. Did you say yours already does? I really want that amp suit and quarich

btw, i read the wiki on that book that cameron supposedly ripped off. He said that he got many of the ideas from his childhood scifi books already but after reading-you see a couple similarities he might have gotten inspiration on but its nowhere close enough to argue lawsuit.

The avatar program transfers consciousness-in this book, someone can telepathically control aliens on jupiter from space. Besides the fact that the guy is in a wheelchair-come on...really?

Chud is just the link I posted because it's more recognizable than the group that broke the story. Which is this site here...

Well, George Lucas ripped off The Hidden Fortress and Joseph Campbell along with some Buck Rogers if we want to call people out. Hell, Tarantino's movies are basically mix tapes of past, hidden gems. I don't get the hate Cameron's getting. The dude made ALIENS, Terminator, The Abyss, etc... I CAN"T WAIT to see him return to Science fiction. And people please, a lot of writers think they wrote something original then realize a book or movie had basically the same plot.

Yeah, they were at Target. Had the AMP suits and creatures, as well as the small figures and large figures.

Checked out my local target and got the amp, quarich, trudy, and Jake in the wheelchair. I only wanted the amp and quarich but I somehow ended up with those others too...lol

Yeah, saw it in front of Amelia. The cammed version I posted is also missing the first 15 seconds. The trailer goes live online this thurs or fri

What did you think of the toys, and also the images on the cardbacks?

Dude! The images were super high res! Its crazy. The one of Jakes Avatar is super clear.

Just found out from a reliable source on Marketsaw that the new Avatar trailer will drop tomorrow morning at 10 am pt

That's much better. It's nice to see some real people acting. This one didn't seem like a video game trailer. I'm a bit more excited now--although I still have a feeling that it's going to make me want to go straight home from the theater and watch "Dances With Wolves."

This new trailer looks really amazing. The beautiful music from The Island, combined with the awesome footage, in the beginning of the trailer, is just perfect to give me goosebumps! :bow

I'm even more looking forward to this now!!! :rock :rock :rock

Damn, the aliens looks so fake (particulary their eyes and the way they move). And what about the hero speech at the end to rally the troops that we've been seing for the 100th time since Braveheart ...So many cliché...caca.

More like the 300 Leonidas cry.:rotfl You need to see this on a large screen in HD to appreciate the CG. Watching a cruddy quality international trailer isn't the best format. You know its CG going in so of course its easy to scrutinize, and Im not saying its all photoreal-but its the best motion capture to date and you forget they are cg after a couple minutes and are fully immersed in the story because what you are seeing is the actual performances of the actors in the face and body with a computer coating-thats all.

Whats funny is everyone who bashes the cg and calls it unoriginal will still go to the theater to see it :lol:rotfl

BTW, The new trailer goes live at 10am pt today!

You can claim the characters dont look real to you. Ok, that fine. But what I havent heard anyone say, even the haters of Cameron is that the environments look fake. The forestry for the most part and all the surface of the planet of Pandora are computer graphics! Keep in mind it took them 9 month to create the 3d model of the Na'vi and between rendering them and the environment-one frame would take approx 30-40 hours to render! Computers have been rendering for months on end to achieve this level of detail never before seen. Not to mention they teamed up with both Weta and ILM for this project.
