I'm going to see this at the theater I work at Thursday in 2-D. Just want to absorb the story. Then I'll be seeing in 3-D probably a week later (depends on how much I love it....who am i kidding I'll be seeing it the next day in 3-D) I'm just too excited to have a new James Cameron science fiction film. Been a long time. Hope it's worth the wait.

If nothing else, this movie looks like a steaming pile of manure, which is worth the price of avoiding at all costs alone.

Seems as though the only steaming pile of manure around here is what's coming out of your mouth!

regarding the "simple" story some of you are dwelling on... you guys seem to equate simplicity with pedestrian, when it's not at all the same thing. you know what else has simple story? LOTR, starwars, indiana jones, terminator, aliens, pixar films, hitchcock films, kurosawa films, etc.

check the RT ratings lately? 90% so far, out of 35 reviews. that loudly proclaims GREAT STORY! you cant buy that kind of ratings from them jaded oldfarts without a solid story, no matter how cool the visuals are. gotta love the snobs in here who still think they are above this film. 'oh it's just dances with smurfs in space.' 'oh i'll just see it for the visuals.'

see the film first, geeks. then admit cameron proved you wrong. yet again.

I don't think this movie looks very good either, but I will reserve judgement until I see it ( probably on DVD ). I can't believe the number of people slobbering all over this as if it's this epic event when they have not even seen it yet.

it's james cameron. that's why film lovers everywhere have high hope for avatar. from what i've witnessed in many film forums, it's easy to see the doubters/haters are usually the ones who lack film knowledge, hence their casual dismissal of cameron.

avatar is enjoying 90% rating so far. it's not blind faith anymore. you'll see it on dvd? yeah riiight...

Is that even a question plasmid!!!! OFCOURSE WE'RE ALL GONNA SEE IT IN THE IMAX!!! WOOWOWOWOOWOWOWOW:chew:chew:monkey5:monkey5

I wonder if there gonna show this in the theaters with the D-Boxx seats?

I don't see why not. I guess it depends on those theaters. Honestly though, I think D-Box is a gimmick that works better for video games than in a theater.

Several of the people who have given it a rotten tomato are changing their reviews to positive.

Seen enough thats why. AVATAR Day was but a small little unfinished tidbit but it was enough for me.

Ill be seeing it in a Cinemark XD 3D REAL-D IMAX. One of 7 in the world. 35 speakers and a larger screen than IMAX. Super pumped for the midnight showing.

Here is a 20min Press Conference with the cast from the Blue Carpet premiere

Oh, and those people who say they will catch it on DVD...lol-I almost guarantee they will see it-maybe more than once on the big screen once word travels. The curiosity alone.

A new review from Rotten Tomatoes

"An astonishing, breathtaking masterpiece. Cameron did it! It will easily surpass Titanic's box office. I think Cameron created a few new colors. "

Not sure if you read any of the reviews, but out of the 37 positive you can count on 1 hand the number that have anything positive to say about the story. That seems to be loudly proclaiming that GREAT VISUALS is what you'll get from this.

Thats what I dont get, why are people nit picking that its not a cerebral movie. Its not meant to be shakespeare. I personally dont want a confusing story to take away from the film. Was aliens or terminator any different. I dont think so but there are many who claim them to be classics they love. First off, Dances with Wolves or not-there are a ton of people who havent seen that so that story will be new to them especially kids. From what some of these critics say its not even fair to compare the two because they are simply too different.

The movie is an experience and an emotional one at that. Many critics said they cried multiple times and that they were blown away by the film. I dont think a crappy story could elicit that level of emotion. Whether its the tech, the 3d, the acting, the story or whatever- it is obviously overwhelming how the critics feel about the film. When you are posting a short review on rotten tomatoes for a movie such as this, are you going to say- oh wow great story or are you going to mention something having to do with the 10 plus technologies created for the film...lol.

Forgive my fanboyism- I just got ahold of a CAST signed poster from the London Premiere and am really psyched!

I think you're just pissed that this looks so much better than any of those lamo Star Wars prequels. Long live the OT.
