Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Saw it today...Great visuals but everything else is average.Deja-vu concept, movie is too long and way overated.I didnt see anything in it that got me impress..At times it looked like a cross between a Star Wars movie and a Pixar movie. How many times do we have to see the same boring speech delivered by the Hero to lift the spirit of the troops before the end battle.

Anyway the girl I was with thought it was boring too and said the story reminded her too much of the animated movie,Final Fantasy (wich I have never see).

Anyway, Yawn.

i bet if it starred the PF Kirby Hulk you'd like it a lot better :lol

In all seriousness, i just got back from my 2nd viewing, this time in IMAX 3-D. This film is no joke. It set the bar like T2, like the Matrix and Lord of the Rings...and won't be topped for a very long time.

If you didn't see anything that impressed you, my question to you is, "How can you fill a cup if it's already full."

No offense but u hated the movie to begin with.:horror

It made another 16 million Tuesday. I don't think it will end up second all time like lightwave thinks, but I am guessing it is going to do around 350-400 million since it definitely is going to have legs.

Yea, I doubt 2nd all time too. But I do think it will do at least $300-325 mil domestic and 400 for., totaling over $700 mil. I’m glad that people are actually making this thing a success, both critically and financially. Hopefully the studios take notice and we will see more huge, ambitious out-of-the-box projects like this in the future. :chew.

Wow...
finally got a chance to watch it today....
AMAZING!!!! :rock!!!
Perfect movie!!!
Though I noticed Horner re-hashed a lot of the Apocalypto Soundtrack... nothing wrong since I love it...

CGI is impressive... and for some reason I didn't think it was too long...

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

No its definatly not overated,Everybody knows the plot is simple and has been done many times but its how they did it that gets me. The way they portrayed it was original.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Yeah ppl may say the storys not original but it actully brilliant!..i love the movie. THe story was approached so well..and the acting was good to..Zoe Saldana needs to win best actress for Neytiri..im not kidding

Saw Avatar. It was crap. Spectacular visuals -- the story was a 3-hour cliche'. The blue indians were saved by the magic tree sending all the forest animals to defeat the evil imperialists ... blah, blah, blah. Predictable. Cliched. Most characters were poorly written and lacked any depth at all. It was a $500M Pocahontas.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

ummm...Im pretty sure I know the answer but is this movie overrated at all?

Though I personally believe that this is one of the most visually groundbreaking and overall spectacular movies ever made its always a good idea to not hype any movie up too much in your mind before seeing it.

I will say one really awesome part of the experience for me actually had to do with me stepping out a couple of times to use the restroom (thanks to a large glass of wine I had at the 3D Cinebistro showing the movie.) Both times I was in a mad rush to get back to the action and each time it took a moment for my senses to adjust back to having the glasses on. In a weird way it was almost just one more level of immersion. Toward the end Jake was frantically trying to keep "jacked in" to his avatar and I felt the exact same way which was pretty cool.
