Re: New Judge Dredd movie

Action was good, but wished it wasn't just taken place in a building the entire movie.

Re: New Judge Dredd movie

Just watched this. Very good movie! I saw the Stallone version in the theaters and hated it. Never read the comics, but I always had the impression this guy was supposed to be a genuine bad-***, and Urban definitely was that. Gore was a bit over the top, reminiscent of Punisher: War Zone, but no other complaints.

Like I said, if you saw it in the theaters you could've allowed them to up the antee in the next one.

But ya didn't. So.....:lol

Re: New Judge Dredd movie

I'm more curious as to why it seems the producers decided to completely drop the ball on promoting and distributing this.

When I was at SDCC there was no panel for this movie - seems kind of odd as it is based on a comic. I went to a panel that was of movie review bloggers because I noticed Karl Urban was the MC. About halfway through the panel, the discussion turned to Dredd and became a sort of mini panel for this movie. We even got Dredd badges (like what he wears in the film). It was in a small room - and besides knowing that Karl was going to be there, there was zero mention of this movie in any press.

Cut to a few months later when the movie was released...there was very little PR for it and it was only playing on 2 screens here in Seattle and was only here for a couple weeks.

Just seems so odd - it seems like the studio didn't even give this film a chance to be seen.

I missed seeing it at the theater - it was gone before I had a chance to see it and after watching it at home, I wish I had seen it at the theater in 3D. I bet it looked stunning.

Only movie I have ever seen in 3D, imo it's the only way to watch this movie. It to me was absolutely awesome!

I agree, I've seen a couple 3D movies but this one was a must in 3D... debating getting a TV just for it! :lol

Watch it twice in 3D. Love it. I was bummed that it only play one week here. If not for someone asking me if I wanted to buy a back helmet. I would never have even know this was coming out.

Re: New Judge Dredd movie

I watched it in 3d and then in 2d. The 2d one I was wishing that I went with 3d again. This is probably the first and last time I will feel that way.

Re: New Judge Dredd movie

3D movies turn me off, it's just another gimmick by Hollywood to cash in on more money, but I'm not using that as an excuse of why I didn't see this movie in theaters. I just bought the DVD and I really liked it, hopefully the DVD and Blu Ray sales are decent enough that they would consider a sequel.

I bought this yesterday ans watched it last night in 3D (joys of having one of those tv's)... very enjoyable and I liked that it took place in just the one location. It gave it more of a comic book feel and it was truer to Dredd than that horrific Stallone attempt.

Re: New Judge Dredd movie

The movie got such a bad rap that I hesitated to watch it, but when I did I loved the movie, I know I am in a minority but I did like the Stallone version, but Karl Urban version was more true to the comic. I hope this does well in rental and in sales so they might make a sequel. Karl Urban did a fantastic job as Dredd, I also liked Anderson, I don't know if I would want someone around who could read my mind. Just imagine if she has a nice butt and you are starring at it and thinking...boy could that be embarrassing!!!

You mean pre release, out there with folks you've spoken to since release, on here - or all of the above?

Since it's release it's enjoyed mostly positive reviews, from what I understand. :huh

It has. Still it was bad to put it out with Twilight Part 2. It was like going head to head with who shoot JR.

Finally saw this film today... I freaking loved it, I want a figure and a sequel to be made. O_O

Watched it the other night and feel the same way.

It was nice and refreshing to have a movie where the hero doesn't take his helmet/mask off at all compared to removing it every other scene. Urban rules!
