Superhero and star wars movies aren't going anywhere for a long time... They are the only movies that make studios money nowadays. In fact, when this era dies out, as some of you suggest ( personally i dont think this will happen anytime soon), it will mark the end of movie theaters all together mostly due to outrageous prices and the fact that other genre's of movies such as dramas, comedies ext don't really benefit from the movie theater experience as much as these blockbuster do,. People have nicer setups at home and you dont need big sound or large screens to enjoy them since they are meant to be experienced on a more personal level. Big screen and big sound are perfect for star wars and superhero genres since they actually add value to the experience. Why watch a drama in a the theater, if it doesn't really enhance your experience, especially when you can watch it at home in a higher resolution with HDR for less money. The harsh truth is that people aren't going to pay for the run of the mill drama or indy film anymore. This is why netflix is doing so well, and why more and more major movie stars are joining in on the netflix train. The writing is on the wall already which is why these studios are only producing superhero and star wars stuff, everything else is a waste of their resources because people wont pay to see anything else in theater anymore since there is no benefit for doing so. They would have to really lower prices if they expect people to go to these other movies, hell it cost the studios 100s of millions to produce these blockbusters but most drama/comedy's cost much less yet the pricing is the same.

Geeks don't like superhero movies anymore so it's not mainstream?

Do you see how stupid that sounds?

Kids man, KIDS. These are aimed at KIDS. Mommy and daddy keep shelling out the pennies for them to go. Superheros will be around for a while at the BO, like it or not.

There's at least 7 super hero movies next year I can think of. Look ahead the next 4 years, 90% of the releases are sequels or superhero flicks.

Get your head out of your *** and into some common sense.

Easy boy....

If that were the case superhero movies would have been made since the advent of film.

They attempted to make them back in the 70's and they flopped....and sorry to educate you, but we had kids back then

More recently Spider-Man caused a big sensation many years ago....after the 3rd one people got tired of it....and we had to wait for Nolan to do Batman for the golden age of superheroes to start again.

People got tired of Star Wars you know ....

Marvel's really driving this new "superhero age". Take Marvel movies out of the equation and you ain't left with much.

Once Marvel's grand experiment is over -- the end of Phase 1 thru Phase 3 -- its doubtful that CBMs will continue on a course as domineering as has been the case for the last decade.

It's foreseeable that Marvel will back off a bit from its usual 3+ movies a year after IW is finished..
