Sassa all due respect please don’t take this the wrong way...but that doesn’t make any sense to me lol
I was just thinking of some stuff i read where U.S. movies don't do well domestically but do so well internationally, it gets huge profits. To the point where U.S. studios view the international market as a potential gold mine. Plus this year the U.S. box office is so bad AND reporters here are more likely to bring up director issues at a press event.
Like Tom Cruise is sort of a fading star in the U.S. but in other countries he's still a big draw even if his movies aren't so good. So if WB is focusing all their PR efforts outside the U.S., I figure it's coz that's where WB thinks it will make the most money. Marvel works the international hype too, but they have U.S. press events. There was a big one for Civil War.
Of course there's nothing to stop a U.S. reporter from going to the UK for the London press event, but even so it's not a room of U.S. reporters asking questions and wanting previews. (Unlike Marvel who gave an early peek of unfinished Black Panther footage to reporters last spring). E.g. often (not always) if a film is looking really good, you show it off.
It's all about money and opening weekend profits. Just feels like WB is dodging inquisitive U.S. reporters/critics when they ought to be hyping JL in the U.S. Only reason I can think WB wouldn't is they think it's not worth the time and/or there are questions they don't want to deal with like stuff about Whedon.
