I still think Jon Hamm would be an awesome Batman, and I think his age would add an interesting dynamic to it. He's a weathered crime fighter, and he's already wondering how long he can keep this up, and now, he's got to keep up with what are essentially gods. That being said, casting Hamm would leave a limited window for sequels, and, if each takes 3-4 years to produce, I'd say that, at most, they could get 2 Batman films and 2 Justice League films out before his age starts to catch up to him. Add to that the constraints of being in a television show, and I think that my wish is that much more unlikely.

Am I the only one who doesn't want Wally? They need to start at the beginning, with the original seven: Aquaman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Maybe a few of the honorary members (like Green Arrow and The Atom), but my point is that they should start with the original seven (both heroes, and alter egos).

I haven't read the recent stuff where Barry was brought back to life, but pre-Crisis he wasn't all that distinctive as a character. Straight-laced cop guy wouldn't be as compelling on the screen as a relatively young, witty guy. Sort of the Ryan Reynolds thing but for a character where it makes more sense.

Gosling is too aloof to be any of the JLA guys in my opinion. Maybe he could be Icicle or something :lol

I would actually prefer to see Hamm as Superman than Batman.

Yeah, you are.

BTW, they should totally reuse the theme from Hammer's TWINS OF EVIL in the film:

:lol I tried typing up this long response, but in the end kept laughing at what a ____ing joke this is seeming like and figured if WB/DC isn't taking this ____ seriously, why the hell should I? :lol

:lol

you guys don't understand, He Hated Daredevil, he has said it many times he regrets doing it and he thinks superhero movies and wearing costumes is stupid,

and THIS is the guy they are giving Justice League to? seriously?
the guy that hates superheroes?

Dislikes the comic genre? What the hell is WB thinking?! :slap

Honestly, I have no doubt Affleck can do a good film. I just question WB giving him THIS film. Especially after his "meh" effort with Daredevil (I know he didn't direct it, but he didn't do it any favors). Why not give him Aquaman or Flash and see how he does with a 2nd tier character first and if he proves successful, hand him the keys to the kingdom?

:exactly:

I'd be down for that. I just hope WB doesn't rush this. It'll get crushed by Marvel's phase II if they don't plan this thoroughly.

People who don't like the genre, tend to do better anyway.

Ridley Scott didn't love Sci-Fi....and then he did Alien.

Fans of the material normally tend to ____ it up. Unless they can take a back seat and go..."OK. Story first. Then fun. "

am i the only one who thinks ham is terrible for both?

He wouldn't be my choice at all. He's the trendy pick ... tall, generic looking, with dark hair. Eh. Haven't watched much Mad Men, but I keep thinking back to him playing the hippie lawyer on The Unit.

He strikes me as too old, for starters. He's 41. If they're planning on making a series, he'll be well over 50 by the time its done. Cavill is their Superman, and I don't see any way they'd pick a 40+ year old for a Batman reboot.

Yeah, like when they got the "urban comedy" director of Barber Shop to take over Fantastic Four.

I suppose he is trendy in the sense that he's in a popular current show, but he exudes strength and resolve. He's also got that mature, chiseled look that classic Superman has. He is a bit old though that didn't stop Marvel from using old geezer RDJ as Tony Stark. I think Cavill looks fine in the role, though.

Affleck is meeting with Zack tomorrow. Make of that what you will. Could mean nothing or even be completely unrelated (they share some production resources). Interesting to think about, though, given recent events.

you guys know that this Affleck rumor got shot down, right? His reps said "its not going to happen".

a rumor like this can easily get started because according to Deadline, WB gives first opportunities of their movies to Nolan, Yates, Affleck now.

That's just a rep quote. They don't want it to spin out of control into rumors, which is understandable. But they haven't even had the meeting yet. I don't think he'll take it, either, but he hasn't officially turned it down yet.
