Re: Keaton Batman

I went through this entire thread (all 130+ pages) and saw no comparison pics between Shawn's Keaton Batman and Takara's Batman Begins figure. (Unless I somehow missed it.)

I'm going to have to change this when my Keaton Bats arrives...

Probably because they're two different figures entirely. I don't think any of the shots with the HT Bats in them were for comparison per say. Some pics of him with Takara's would be cool though.

Re: Keaton Batman

I think the pics with Hot Toys Bats and Shawns Keaton Bats were because the Keaton Bats rules over the Hot Toys one. Pretty hard to tell from pictures, but those that have both know what I'm talking about.

Unfortunately I don't have a Takara Bats yet, to know which may be better. Of course there are the usual tit for tat which one is better and why, but as a display piece on your shelf, the story has been told in this thread.

Re: Keaton Batman

I don't know if you guys can tell from my crappy pictures but I did a black wash on the belt to show the great detail and brightened the yellow on the chest emblem.

Re: Keaton Batman

G'day Shawn

I have just sent payment.

Thanks for your prompt reply to my recent questions. I am really looking forward to getting this figure.

cheers.

Re: Keaton Batman

I've finished tweaking the color of Batman's emblem (darkened the yellow just a bit from before) and I put a nice thick coat of gloss on it. This thing rocks! Shawn is the man.
My V3 Bats has now made it's way to the 1989 Batman Case Of Fame.:D

Re: Keaton Batman

Looks good Coco, real good.

I'm still debating whether to repaint my emblem. Mine is bright yellow and I like it. It was bright yellow earlier in the film as I recall.

I just wouldn't want it too mustardy looking, but it seems you darkened it just enough to satisfy both looks...

Yours came alot more yellow than mine. My Bats emblem was about the same color as his belt so I went ahead and painted it to match what's on the cover of the official Batman movie book.

Immaculate! Screen accurate Perfection!
Pjam, are you still so unsure?

Very nice on the belt and DEAD ON on the emblem. The gloss coat makes it. I'd be pretty dang proud of that one Coco! You nailed it.

No, I like it Les bro. You were right, as usual. Love the gloss coat too. :D

Re: Keaton Batman

Was that hard to do Coco? I'd love for mine to look that kickass :rock

Surprisingly easy. Go to WallyWorld and get a bottle of Apple Barrel brand Yellow, Pumpkin Orange and Delta Ceramcoat Gloss Varnish. They should all be in the crafts section. If they don't have it anymore then Hobby Lobby will.
Mix a very small amount of the Orange in with the Yellow and really water it down. You won't so much as paint the symbol but dab the watered down mixture into the recessed area.

It takes several coats doing it this way but you get better results if you allow the thinned paint to just flow in around the black bat rather than trying to brush a thicker coat on. If you just dab the paint on it almost self levels as long as it's fluid enough.

Once you've got enough coats on and the color looks solid and consistent then slightly water down the Gloss Varnish and do the same thing, letting each coat dry, until you get a nice thick glassy look to the yellow portion. After that I only put one coat of gloss on the black bat.

Or let me do it for you. The choice is yours.

:bow:bow:bow

I love it.:blackbat

:rock :rock :rock

Re: Keaton Batman

That's a cool Keaton figure and the included Batman bust is a great bonus, but considering that you can get the clothes and body elsewhere for cheapish, you're practically paying $100 (plus shipping of course) for a Keaton headsculpt and the limited nature thereof (100 pieces).

However, I might want to grab one to place next to my S.Studios Batman (when it arrives, that is).
