Re: Keaton Batman

Shawn, Answer your PM and Email!

I think I prefer the resin head over the rubber one, I wonder if I can request that or is it too late/not an option?

i was thinking the same thing. if mine hasn't been made yet. i'd like the resin head too. screamingmetal, if you get a hold of him let me know.

I just sent him the email, I'll let you know as soon as I hear back from him. But expect it to be awhile since he hasn't responded to my last email and PM I sent awhile back. :monkey2

Re: Keaton Batman

Can someone here tell us if Shawn's 89 Batman can tilt his head down a bit to have the same angle as the Returns Batman in Natrix's photos? Is it possible? Thanks guys.

He does look like he's looking upward in many shots.

Do you know how hard it is to see the Batsignal on a clear night?

In hand, he is looking directly forward. There is no movement in the head.

Shawn is a one man machine geared toward customizing, he does fall down in the communications department. Sometimes his wife handles communications, sometimes they think each other is handling communications. Anyone had a holiday recently? Could he be sick? He has children and only one computer. Uh oh, and you know what computers are like. Family matters would take priority wouldn't you reckon. Life is like that, so many possible scenarios.

Look at how many Batmen he has made, just in this thread, let alone for other customers, and he doesn't just make Batmen. Also he is continually experimenting to make his figures even better. Just be patient, no need to get riled. Give it a week, why not two, then try contacting him again. I know what it feels like. Are you being ignored? Are the messages getting through? One man can only do what one man can be proud of, and the other man be happy with.

You probably know all this anyway, so I hope you guys get some comfort in a reply soon.

Re: Keaton Batman

i gotta agree with creech though. shawn is a busy dude. he's always got back to me eventually. the only urgency in this case is, if we want the resin head, we need to catch him before he starts work on our figs. that's if he can still even do the resin head. to be honset i'd be happy with either head. but i think the resin head will make it that tiny but superior

Re: Keaton Batman

I don't mind which version of the Bat-cowl he gives me, and I haven't contacted him since I first paid off the figure. I don't mind if it takes another month! As long as the figure turns out to be of the same great quality as the previous ones.

Re: Keaton Batman

Thanks for that lesson in the obvious.

:moon

eighthsamurai is right. There is that measure of urgency. I would hope that you are able to catch Shawn in time to have the sculpt you want. I would also think that even if Shawn has already done yours in rubber, he may save those for the next people in line, and make more of the resin ones for youse that want it. It will just mean you have to wait longer again. Unless they have already been sent out. Good luck guys.

I hope that was obvious too. :monkey5

Re: Keaton Batman

While never seeing both in person, the Resin head V2 (which I have) does look a little crisper to my eye. Although the V3 has great articulation... Sophie's Choice :lol

That it is. I have V3 and love the articulation. And the fact that Shawn got an actual latex mask to fit this perfectly over a resin head is awesome. On the other hand I love the clean, crisp look of the cast resin head. It's a quandry.
Fortunately I have two resin heads coming from Shawn. One of which I will custom fit to my V1 Bats and do a few other mods to make it my own.:D That way I'll have two perfect 1989 Batman figs to display.

Re: Keaton Batman

141 pages!!!??? :google Geez, I've been away from this thread longer than I thought. I apologize for that, sincerely.

I'm finishing up the end of the list now, I didn't forget about you guys. Yes, I've been insanely busy, with the Batmans and the other couple of projects you guys have got me working on now. I'm also trying to build up a bit of inventory of my regular stuff. I want to try and be a month ahead of the game instead of a month behind as the case has almost always been. The Batman figures have been a bit hung up by the latex. You can't ship it when it's too cold. If it freezes, it's ruined. It's been between 14 and 25 degrees here for a while now, and that's not even counting the windchill factor. The place I order from is in the same climate, too. I order a gallon nearly two weeks ago and just got it today. It survived, fortunately. I've learned I'll have to stock up over the summer months. **I should add that if latex freezes in liquid form it will be ruined. The weather won't affect the figures**

I did just reply to a couple emails I had today. I haven't been able to get onto AOL the past couple days, because they suck. And I saw Tuesday, I think, that my PM box was full. I'm not sure what the sytem here does with new ones in that case, but that might be why I haven't gotten or responded to any new ones.

As for the resin heads, I don't have the mold for those anymore. Those cowl molds tend to dry out and come apart rather quickly, especially around the ears and eyes.

The rubber cowls aren't any less crisp, I don't think. I think the resin version may look sharper because they were semi-glossy and caught the light differently. The rubber ones are very dull. I took a latex casting of my own fingerprint from the outside of one of the plaster molds, so I don't think there should be a loss of detail. And the face/eyes are still resin. Plaster molds do wear down over time, like the tread on a tire. This last group is coming from an entirely new mold, though.

Again, sincere apologies for letting this thread slip away from me. I'll pop in here more often from now on.

Re: Keaton Batman

Dear Shawn,
If I understand your message correctly, you no longer make the heads in resin because the mould is gone?
Let me know what you mean, as I asked a resin version and do not like the rubber one.
I do not want a rubber one.
Thank you.

Re: Keaton Batman

Thank you , that is super ;-)

aaaah you lucky devil. oh well, like i said, either head should be cool. from the pics so far though the V1/V2 head does look that tad bit nicer. and cbb's comparison shots kinda make the V2 look better. will i be upset about the rubber one? hell, no! can't wait shawn. thanks for the email by the way. appreciate it. the inventory idea sounds like a good business plan too.

Re: Keaton Batman

having looked at Josh's pics and Cocoboloboy's pics again, either head is just as awesome as the other. In fact, now I think I prefer the v3. Don't you just hate troublemaking flipfloppers?

man, what an awesome figure. and what great pics. thanks guys. the day i get mine, i'm gonna parade it through the streets on a custom made joker float.

Re: Keaton Batman

I got your email back buddy.
Although I think the resin head looks sharper I'm sure I'll be more then happy with the rubber head. I'm looking forward to getting mine!
Thanks! :D
