Re: Kong: Skull Island

I like the ApocNow styled thing.
At least it looks like a movie poster instead of a bunch of images crudely photoshopped together.

I don't get why, but all the nicest, most creative posters are reserved for events or IMAX while standard theater stuff is always the poor photoshop work.

Are they saying Marlon Brando was a damn dirty ape? :cuss

Re: Kong: Skull Island

Honestly that poster reminds me of that awful 77 kong movie. Hated that movie.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

1976. Always loved that version. A great cast, great tone and a really fierce Kong.

I appreciate the 76' the more time goes on. Put some proper monsters in it, swap the monkey suit for stop motion and it'd be close to perfect. And that John Barry score..... wonderful!

That was the Kong I grew up with, never saw the '33 until PJ's Kong came out and they put it on DVD, I enjoy it, but '76 is cemented as THE Kong movie for me, with things I like about '33 and 2005.

I have to say though, with the reveal of the design of Kong 2017, of the American Kong designs, 2005 is now my least favorite, it's just too real Gorilla for me and not a monster.

It's actually a close call for me between '76 and 2017, I really like both. 2017 really feels to me like what they would have wanted him to look like in '33 had they not been limited by using puppets.

Agreed on the great 1976 score as well. Also agree that 2005 Kong looks too much like a regular gorilla. But I still love Jackson's film. 1933, 1976, and 2005 are all solid films for different reasons. Other than KK vs Godzilla and King Kong Lives Kong has had a great run in cinema. Hopefully Skull Island continues that tradition.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

While overall King Kong Lives has a lot going wrong for it, the battle at the end where Kong just goes to town on the military is awesome.

Also, a few gems from Google search.

Which also opens the discussion, favorite Kong leading lady.

For me, on looks alone, I'd rank them.

1. Fay Wray

2. Brie Larson

3. Naomi Watts

4. Jessica Lange

At least in the Kong movies, Fay just looks gorgeous in an almost surreal way. As a kid I had a huge crush on Jessica Lange from the '76 movie, but she has moment where she doesn't look so good, where the others pretty much look good throughout, granted I haven't see all of Brie Larson yet.
