Re: Kong: Skull Island

There were so many great films in 1982 it was insane. Unfortunately my parents didn't give a rip about taking me to all of them and the only ones I saw on the big screen were E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. I *so* wanted to see Poltergeist but because of a fiasco with me having to sleep on the floor next to their bed for two weeks after watching Halloween I got black listed for anything remotely scary.

Re: Kong: Skull Island

Jaws
OT
Raiders
TOD
Airplane
History of the World
Excalibur
CTB
Halloween 1
Close Encounters
STM 1/2
F13th 1/2/3/4
The Thing
Terminator 1
Commando
Road Warrior
Rocky 1/2/3/4
Beverly Hills Cop
Trading Places
Animal House
Predator
Die Hard 1
Robocop 1
Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Police Academy
Rambo 1/2/3
The Reanimator
The Howling
The Fly
American Werewolf in London
Batman 89
T2

From 1975 to 1991, nothing could ever replace those incredibly wonderful 16 years for me.

Seriously, just look at that insane list, nothing can touch that.

I'll just make believe Blade, TWS and CW were released in 1991. :lol

That's a damn great list to start with.
There's still more we can throw in there but I don't want to steal your thunder. :)

Re: Kong: Skull Island

Oh there definately is, Khev mentioned Wrath of Khan which I had forgotten to add, that was another masterpiece 80's cinema.

But you're right, so so many more.

My list were the AAA titles.

But drop down just one level and that list will definately grow with more comedies and action movies.

Ferris Bueller, Weird Science, The Jerk, Breakfast Club, Fright Night, Hollywood Nights, Revenge of the Nerds, Big, Splash, Bachelor Party, Caddyshack, Halloween 2, Back to School, Golden Child, Meatballs, My Bodyguard.

Invasion USA. :lol

No love for Spaceballs?

Re: Kong: Skull Island

It's crazy to think that at the end of the 80's we had the SW OT, The Terminator, ALIENS, Predator, RoboCop, Die Hard, and Batman with NO bad sequels to any of them. Then came the 90's....

Re: Kong: Skull Island

I listed 44 movies within a 16 year run from Jaws (75) to T2 (91) that are AAA titles for me yet I am here staring at another 50 movies from that time frame that I could consider as worthy entries.

Sheesh.

Die Hard and Terminator didn't really have a bad sequel until the 2000's.

Sheesh.

Is your movie on that list? :lol

Re: Kong: Skull Island

The 80's were the king of sci-fi and action, the 90's claim to fame was dramas and crime movies. Best fantasy was in the 00's (LOTR, Pan's Labyrinth, the better HP films) and Pixar really hit it's stride. In the 10's (or whatever this decade is called) we've got overall the best superhero movies with unprecedented inter-connectivity.
