Re: Kong: Skull Island <<SPOILERS>>

No joke, the movie is pretty much that scene for 2 hours :lol

I can't believe how goofy it was. The acting from everyone is terrible. There's a ton of action though, but there was so much that by the time the big battle at the end I was already exhausted.

There's an after-credit scene too that extremely cheesy and feels like it was just thrown together last minute. This really felt like a MCU Kong film.

Only thing I liked in the movie was actually John C. Reilly, he was pretty funny. The movie felt like a comedy, and there were some extremely dumb deaths.

Sounds like a 60's Japanese kaiju film but with modern action.
Can't wait! :yess:

Except it doesn't have the same charm.

Still, I can see people enjoying this, but for some reason this felt more like a movie about John C Reilly's character than exploring anything about Kong. You really don't learn anything about Kong outside of him just being King of the island.

Summary of post-credit scene and cam rip image.

Hiddleston and Larson's characters are taken back to Monarch for recruitment and are shown a series of photos of cave paintings, one depicting Rodan, one depicting Mothra, and one depicting Godzilla standing off against Ghidorah as seen above, then cut to black and Godzilla's roar.

Reminds me a lot of the post credit scene in Iron Man 1 establishing the MonsterVerse, "you think you're the only superhero." Had Legendary secured all the rights before Godzilla 2014 hit theaters, I'm sure such a post credit scene would have shown up there.

Thanks for saving me from having to sit thru the credits. :lol

Going to be wild seeing american designed Godzilla taking on those monsters, I wonder what changes they will make to Ghidorah.

If you dare, poor cam rip of the post-credit scene from YouTube.

Interestingly, part of this scene made it into a TV ad, can't think of any movie with a post credit scene that has appeared in advertising.

IGN gave it an 8.0 Great! :lol

"But for what Kong: Skull Island sets out to do, which is deliver a monster movie filled with the kind of action and destruction that audiences have never seen from a King Kong film before, it’s hard to imagine it doing a much better job than it does."

"it’s a thrill ride for people ready to kick off 2017 with a big bang."

A March release is better for a film like this and they wisely concluded that for Godzilla 2 as well. Monster movies resonate most with fans that grew up on it, I don't think they really appeal much to new generations, therefore, to put them up against the typical summer movies would be a death sentence. March at least gives it a fighting chance because there isn't as much to draw their attention. Logan is probably the only movie to compete for ticket sales from Kong right now, people have been saying Beauty and the Beast would kill it, but most of the people that would want to see that probably wouldn't give a **** about Kong ever.

I also don't understand the notion of character depth either. Characters can be enjoyable without depth and backstory. We didn't get back story really to anyone on the team in Predator or Alien, they just had entertaining personalities that made it fun to go on the journey with, and in those movies, the focus was the people, the creatures were more a plot device, where in the MonsterVerse, the monsters are more of a focus and I was happy with their characterization in Godzilla and so far have every reason to believe I'll be very satisfied with that aspect of Kong.

I don't watch Godzilla or Kong movies for people, I watch them for giant, cool looking creatures doing crazy **** on screen and wowing me for a little while.
