Perhaps they made this movie with 'repeat viewings' in mind. You know, thinking that after a few viewings of anything, the characters become meaningless.

I'm really curious how the hard-core fans will react once they've seen this. Like you, Maulfan. I'm dying to hear your review.

Some amazing art over here.

Nice collection so far.

Hopefully all these teasers and the neat artwork won't be the best part of this movie for you. But relish in it just in case.

Well, so far the recipe sounds like it's there.

- Kong act like a movie monster and not jungle gorilla. CHECK

- Interesting characters without over elaborate development like Kong 2005. CHECK

- Glorious cinematography. CHECK

- Enjoyable, repeat listening score. CHECK, listened twice through since downloading last night.

At this point, the movie would have to try hard to let me down lol.

I like Jackman, but I hope his score won't make me think of X-men this time.

Not at all, it feels very much like a monster/creature film score. Some parts feel heavily inspired by Predator, others feel influence by John Barry's Kong score, and personally, I feel like the overall sound seems related enough to the Godzilla 2014 score where you feel like these movies are part of a shared world, while also having very unique qualities.

My 9-year-old self would never have imagined that Hollywood would make the MonsterVerse so many years later and with such large budgets... but he would be very happy.

They better not screw up Ghidorah.

Only thing I would check off is the cinematography, there's some really beautiful shots in the movie even though most of it is ripping off Apocalypse now.

Everything else, including the score is forgettable or worse.

Honestly, I can't wait for you guys to see the scene that plays during the credits, it's an absolute joke and left me scratching my head. It was the perfect way to end THIS movie.

In my opinion, Peter Jackson's King Kong was far better than this, only thing I prefer in Skull Island is the look of Kong.

I ain't watchin no review for this movie. I don't need someone else tellin me the ins and outs of a giant Monkey movie.

This is a John C. Reilly film. Kong is just there for the action and that's really it, he has zero to do with the story. You don't really learn a thing about him.

Thankfully with monsters, you don't need the same character development of the main draws like comic book films, no one needs a back story for Godzilla like Captain America, so this has potential to be the 2nd best constructed cinematic universe. So far Legendary seems respectful of where these creatures came from.

Kong: Skull Island <<SPOILERS>>

I actually like when I know very little about the monster but in this case, you really don't learn anything about Kong. Usually I like when there's some decent lore behind the monster, but in this case, you learn one small fact about Kong species and that's it. Nothing else.

The human characters are terrible. Tom Hiddleston probably being the worst character in the movie.

John C. Reilly was the only decent thing in the movie. I'll be pretty shocked if there's a positive reception for this movie here.

Well, I know you're not a fan of the MCU, this truly felt like it was made for the Jurassic World, MCU crowd. Dumb action, jokes, and world building/sequel baiting.

If you liked Jurassic World, then you'll probably love this, if you hated that movie then you'll probably hate this. I personally thought it was worse than Jurassic World.

Yeah I'm not fond of shake n bake formula tripe..JW was entertaining and to me better than alot of superhero stuff but yes it was an empty experience all in all. I think I'm tired of the genre myself and Spiderman Homecoming will make or break it for me. GOTG 2 looks ok but not much excitemenmt looking forward to it as the first one. I'm certainly jaded...:lol
