I wish the MUTOS felt more menacing... Instead I just got to watch them make out with each other.

Yes the skull monster was shown during a sunny day but how lazy can they be that they didn't even give him skin and eyes on his face!

He's just a skull!

Eyes are the window to the soul hence why skulls are lifeless and dull.

Stupid skull chicken. :lol

They have eyes. Visible in that pic, too.

Why even bother if they're going to be sunken that deep into the skull. :lol

They were very cylon like. Cylon's are cool :lol

To be honest I missed those little eyes on the skull monsters, I just kept focussing on what are his skull nostrils.

I have the 3D set, and although I have never watched the 2D disc, I definitely don't have a problem seeing any of the action. Why in the world would the 2D be better in the 3D set than in the regular set?

Yep I watch the 2D blu-ray from the 3D set. My picture at home looks like the bottom title screen above. Holy crap that other one *is* dark.

I am not sure it is the 2D disc that looks better... The 3D disc when the 3D is turned off to watch in 2D is the example listed in that post I put up.... So it;s the 3D disc that seems to be the superior version.

Khev.. Perhaps you have your brightness on a bit higher then mine.. My 2D disc looks as bad as the one I posted..

As far as the Godzilla 2014 Blu Ray and DVD release, yes indeed, WB seemed to manage two different brightness levels to come out, with the majority of discs coming out darker with the 3D disc being a more proper light balance that matches more to the brighter balance seen online in trailers.

I have a special lighting setup setting in my TV specifically to watch Godzilla 2014 because of it, it is almost impossible to enjoy without adjustment while every other movie I watch at my standard settings looks fine. It's quite frustrating.

There's been some speculation by fans that WB may just not have given a **** about how good the transfer was after the fallout between them and Legendary.

Thankfully, even if that attitude were to continue with Kong, it's bright enough already that it should look fine.

Well I'll have to check again. My 3D Samsung is set to "Movie" and 24 fps. Normally I manually tweak all the light levels after purchasing a new TV but my current one set to movie is pretty damn spot on. But still you've made me curious now.

I'll check both the 3D and 2D discs plus the special features to see what differences there are but I can say with certainty that the title screen on both my 2D and 3D absolutely matches the whiter image above and that I can see him clearly biting the MUTO's neck at the end.

I just never watch the 3D anymore because it has absolutely horrid "ghosting" on my display. Easily the worst looking 3D title I own.

Movie was pure popcorn fun.
And really liked the way it was shot.
Reminded me of DEEP RISING.
Might have been cooler to have a cast yu actually cared for tho.
Still loved it.

What's funny is that home release version is even darker than the big screen one.
Biggest WTF of modern Hollywood in my book. Makes no sense at all.
And you're so right. I was excited about the blu ray cause I was all like "I'm sure they've heard about all the complaints of it being darker and we'll rectify it on video".

Nope.
