Maybe your TV isn't properly calibrated jye. *snicker*

And I like the grey/black beasts fighting in a darkened city. I assumed it was an homage to the B&W 1954 classic.

:lol :lol :lol

Now grant it that's from the 2D bluray that comes in the 3D version.

Movie was always a tad big too dark.

Then when you add a reflective screen and sun it makes it worse.

Movie definately requires a dark room.

Still a better movie than Kong. :lol

But even that looks much brighter than mine. So this is a real thing. Wth...fricking bs!

I enjoyed the movie and its the best monster movie I've seen. The fighting scenes were immense.

The only problem was that Tom Hiddleston's character was pointless, he was portrayed as the hero but done nothing for me.

I wished they elaborated on Tony Kebbell's character. He should of been the main guy.

Well now that I just sat down to take these photos i'm watching the movie again and yeah these feel like titans making a mess of a city.

I guess what i'm getting at is that a battle in a city with toppled buildings is more visceral than a battle on a sterile island.

No. You have to have a 3D blu ray player pay the 3D blu ray but turn off the 3D

So hard to tell from pics.. But your brightness looks way turned up compared to mine.. Very grey and no true blacks..

I would say my brightness is off but everything else looks great and this blu ray has a reputation for a reason.

How does Aliens vs Predator Requiem look on yours?? That one is notorious for being way to dark also.

Meh... If you are going to have it in a city then give it some life.. If not then you might as well be on some random Island at night.

1954 had life going on in the city since people were running around.. The City did not have time to evacuate.

I don't think the 2D is any different then the other 2D discs.. Put in you 3D disc and see if that seems brighter...

Yeah, funnily enough G14 was on TV (like TNT or something) when we got home from Kong: Skull Island which did not help Kong. I caught the last 20 minutes of the movie, that power breath sequence, damn...

As for the eyes on the Skull Crawlers discussed a while back I believe that Brie Larson shot the big one directly in one of its "real" eyes with the flare gun. Interesting that in this one the girl is blowing away the main bad guy while the character who is lost in the woods, everyone is trying to rescue, is having quiet moments with Kong as he bathes in a pool, etc., is played by a man.

But it was made a sterile city when you removed any human element... Might as well been on skull island among the mountains.

Now these look a way more blue, a lot less quality, and a bit darker because I used a phone.. But here is comparison of movie and the Special features.

From the movie itself

After making the comparison I tried improving the brightness and other settings..

it lightened up the pic... But I lost black level quality and it looked like a grey mess.

The Special features were much better looking.... If the film looked like that I would enjoy it much more :(

Oh make no mistake about it JAWS, the special feature footage is a whole lot brighter!

So I read on another forum that the TV type seems to effect this film also... What type of TV do you have Jye??? What are the brightness settings..
That last pic you took would satisfy me...

Seriously I watch the Special features and I get excited by the action.. I watch the film and I get anxious because I feel like I am missing so much.

The only potentially redeeming parts of Godzilla 2014 were ruined for me. Covering the action in darkness must be an offshoot of the ''1000 camera cuts and extreme closeups'' school of action film-making.
