Blah. My PS3 just froze on this game and will now no longer read discs of any kind. Can anyone link me to a thread with some good troubleshooting suggestions? :(

:monkey2 sorry man that sucks

so it doesn't read any discs at all?

Bluray movie or games?

If thats the case , sorry to say , your laser is dead .

I've gone through 4 PS3's

My last Ps3 i bought was the 40GB , it was fine til about 8 months ago and the bluray laser died - so i was so mad AGAIN that another ps3 sheeeet the bed on me , i took it apart myself and tried cleaning the whole thing of dust , nothing .

so i went on ebay and bought a New Bluray Laser for $40 buckc and changed it myself , my PS3 works great , KNOCK ON WOOD .

If you don't want to send it to Sony , buy the laser and ship the whole thing to me and i will change it for you .

Again Sorry to hear the bad news man :1-1:

this is the seller i bought mine from - awesome service

Thats very cool of you man! Yeah, mine won't read discs of any kind :( I'm contemplating just buying one of the newer models though...isn't this issue fixed with them? Don't they use an additional laser or something?

That's unfortunate, Marf, I feel for ya. :(

It's very cool of you Ecko to offer the repair! Currently I think Sony replaces defective PS3's with 120gb units for $99. Not sure if they're new or refurbed. If you're looking for a giant info depository regarding busted PS3's, this thread (I linked to 2011-onward for the lastest info) on a gaming forum I frequent might be worth digging through. It's very big though. The problem with looking for places with solutions is that there's so many out there and it can be difficult to dig through the chaff and get good info.

Hope you get everything squared out.

Thanks Plasmid :duff Can anyone confirm that the PS3 Slim has taken any steps to alleviate the laser problem? Sorry to highjack this thread...

You welcome man , no problemo .

I didn't know you had a slim version .

I've only fixed the fatties

Again man sorry that happened to you , it sucks .

Actually I have a fatty too :) I'm considering getting a Slim, but I'd like to find out if they've fixed this particular technical issue with the Slim before I do.

I've just finished the story and i love this game! I'm just going to work on getting 100% now. :yess:

Good watch if you've got 11 minutes.

Watching that reminds me of my biggest beef with the game. The fact that they do not use gloves while handling evidence. I work in security and study criminology and the lack of care at the crime scenes bug the hell out of me. I know it is set a long time ago but they used gloves back then.

Bad oversight on the game developers part.

Finished the main story today, really good game.......last scene past credits was a great way to show how it all began.

Need 3 more Side missions, and all film reels

Finished LA Noire as well, took me a little over 20 hours but overall this was a great game and a really interesting experience. I'll definitely want to replay this in 6 months or so :D

Yeah Cole not using gloves is an odd lack in detail, but as for the handling of crime scenes, I'd chalk it up to it being a game. Allowing you to get right into the action without the real-world delay of procedure makes this a fun experience. It's first-and-foremost a game before it's a simulation.

l think it would of been easy for them to of developed him having gloves on. all they had to do use program the character to put on a pair of gloves once you enter a crime scene area or your objective is to look for clues. same way he pulls his flash light out when you walk in a dark erea.

My assumption was that Cole used an extremely brilliant anti wrinkle creme and he had to finger prints left.
