Its not cost effective for most people to grow their own produce, especially when the produce section at the supermarket is the most inexpensive of all the departments. To produce enough marijuana for personal use (unless one really likes to indulge) doesn't take much skill or space and I know plenty of guys that have proven that. I have first hand knowledge of it. I had friends who didn't get above a C average that had impressive greenhouses in their basements. It doesn't take an agricultural savant to grow dandelions or pot.
We make revenue off of casinos, lottery tickets, and race tracks because people go to them for the potentially huge pay off instead of the local poker game. People go to the liquor store because, if it were legal, distilling your own is a major project in relation to the price at the store.
All of these other vices require a lot more investment than soil, seeds, water and a grow light.
The larger issue is that many people don't do it because its illegal. Once you make it legal, more people will be inclined to try it. Making anything that impairs judgment more accessible is never a good idea.

I can't see how it would be an enormous issue when it's legalized. It is legal to buy weed over here and I don't see hundreds of people lying on the streets in a daze so...

People who are stupid and irresponsible enough to get high during work hours are the same as idiots who tend to show up drunk, and they (should) get fired on the spot. Just because it would be legal does not mean they can do it anytime they want without consequences.

Hopefully they will work for a union shop so when they get busted being drunk or high on the job, they don't get fired, they have to go through rehab a couple times.

Here, a video even whitey can understand!... but of course there are those that can be boofoo'd by straight up facts and still not follow the logic trail, ridiculous idiots are they, lied to and loving it:

The same outstanding citizens who drive drunk / stoned or committ crimes to feed their addictions and hurt, kill or disable innocent people. Let us encourage unwanted behavior by making every mind altering substance legal, just because people think they are entitled to do it. When they do something stupid blame society, stress or (gasp) poor ole mom and pop for their irresponsible behavior.

A daytime special....SSF for and against legalizing drugs, next time on Dr. Phil :D

:lol

Did you guys know that people commit crimes for all kinds of addictions - including statue collecting? Maybe we should make that illiegal as well since it may cause people to commit crimes to feed their polystone addiction.

If anyone commits a crime, I blame the a-hole that did it, not whatever he was smoking or drinking. I suppose you're one of the people that wanted to lynch Ozzy Osborne in the 80's when that kid killed himself listening to his record?

Screw Dr. Phil - this should go the Springer!!! :rotfl

Yup- people commit crimes on all kinds of reasons / addictions. This thread is about drugs. A debate for statue collecting deserves its own thread to be discussed individually.

No- You mis-intrepreted my post. I blame people for their actions. I grow weary of the bleeding hearts that blame everyone / everything else for people's stupidty. That defense alone wants me to inflict a no tolerence rule with the death penalty. You big enuff to do the crime be big enuff to do the time.

Include dancing girls, bring back Steve and Springer it is........:banana

Also, you cant get addicted to weed......isnt that nice?

I still dont get how Booze is legal, and weed isnt. It makes zero sense.

Now this I agree with 100%!

I just don't agree that keeping marijuana illegal will help anything. (in fact, I think there are a lot of legitimate benefits to legalizing it, and not just to get high). Other heavier/more harmful drugs like heroin, meth, etc... should remain illegal IMO :gun

And don't get me started on the poison that is called alcohol.. :rotfl

Who says? I have people in my family who have been smoking weed for at least 25 years. I'm pretty sure they are addicted.

ETA Should've just responded to your whole post. As far as one being legal and one not. I smoked weed back in my early 20's. Although I can function fully and legally after drinking 2 beers in an hour (I weigh 260 pounds) I could not function un-impaired after taking a couple tokes from a joint or a pipe. If you're telling me that you don't get buzzed after a joint then why smoke it. Or if you used to but now don't because you built up a resistance to it, then that brings up the argument of people going to harder drugs to get the same effect, which the pro-weed people say doesn't happen, but I've witnessed in my own family.
