Please differentiate the two for me. If something is mentally addicting surely there are physical manifestations.
good point. this reminds me of when people say that caffeine isn't addicting...have you ever seen anyone drink red bull or pot of coffee?? they start twitching, have headaches afterwards. seems like withdraws to me. different drugs do have different physical reactions.

Not true. I have a good example....toy collecting. I do it as a hobby, but i'm mentally addicted to it. It doesnt effect my body, but I do it for fun, and sometimes I can go a bit crazy....

(And btw...i'm just playing Devil's advocite, I havent done much weed :monkey1)

I guess it depends on the stuff....if people drink energy drinks every day, i'd say they'd be quite crazy if you take it away. :lol

And same with weed. I've seen people go nuts, and run around, and others lie down, and do nothing.

Seriously, you people have to chill out. Weed isnt like crack, or heroin, it doesnt ruin lives, it doesnt kill......and I mean the substance itself, not the people.

Begin rant:
I graduated college. Dad passed away. I wanted to make a difference and spent 8 weeks learning to be a EMT. I volunteered for 5 years on local squad and seen first hand what drugs (all kinds) due to people. I can say they ruin lives. Your statement is asinine.

Perhaps a more accurate statement is weeds hasn't ruined or impacted your life in the ways you described. Good for you. Think outside your little world for a moment.

Drugs ( including weed) impacts peoples lives everyday. How about the mother and father who sent a child to jail for dealing or possessing weed? How about the child whose parents rather spend money and time on weed rather than with their child? How about a family who lost a family member or had a family member disabled because someone was driving stoned? How about the people and their families fighting the war on drugs? Theses people's lives aren't impacted or ruined because of drugs (including weed)?

The world is much bigger than our little place in it. :blah

End rant.

Thanks for your time

I'm talking about the drug itself. Meth ^^^^s up your body, same with Crack ect....so aside from legal issues.....

Its mental only. Not physical like cigs.
Many illegal drugs have addictive properties. Addiction is not just "mental," it is a physiological change in the brain.

Habitual behavior like watching too much TV is not comparable. We all fall into habits, but any "withdrawals" result from our becoming uncomfortable from falling out of our habits. That is a psychological phenomenon, not a physiological one. Admittedly, some drug addictions may have both physiological and psychological components.

Or computer addiction. :(

Substitute "gay" with "addicted to the internets. :lol

this is true...i will say that i believe most all drugs do have dependence issues (tolerance, withdrawal, obsessions) but IMO alcohol is the worst because its the "middle class" drug---its legal, socially acceptable, and everyone 12+ has "used" it. my opinion on weed is this --- not for me (used to be :D), but use with moderation so that it doesn't take precedence over your daily role obligations (work, school, whatever). do i think it should be legal?? why not?? alcohol is...when was the last time you read an article about someone smoking a bowl and beating their wife and/or kids???

That sucks. Well, i'm still a Joker fan, so I cant hate you for that.

And I liked TDK better as well.

I understand...the ramifications of different drugs to the body.

I am all for users who assume the risk to their own person. I care less what a person does to themself. What I do not accept is idiots who place others (family, friends) at risk for their irresponsible choices, zero tolerence. Do your drug of choice, stay locked up until the threat to society passes. The problem is people rarely think that way.

I got ya. .....makes sense. I just dont think Weed is really that deadly to others as much as booze, and the hard drugs.
