Mecha G in all 3 of its incarnations look infinitely better than any Jaegermeisters from PR.

So the movie, this movie. Big budget Hollywood summer blockbuster, but it falls terribly short as a GODZILLA film, again not as a monster-disaster film, it fell short judging it as a GODZILLA film.

Watching the plot develop through the main characters in this film is about as much fun to watch as the the Old G films in Japanese and English subtitles on. Bryan Cranston was unnecessary cast in this film. The actors all seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else. every single person cast in the film turned in a FLAT acting performance...people are fillers in these films, we really don't care about the people it's the monsters we came to see!

i liked the fact that they had a Dr. Serizawa in this film, for those that don't remember THE Dr. Serizawa he was the dude who killed GODZILLA in the original, with his infamous oxygen destroyer.

However, Serizawa's role was hokey, forced and poorly executed.

The script and storytelling of this film was weak and slow. There was little on screen discussion or dialogue about GODZILLA. They talked about him, but it was minimal. The onscreen dialogue has the ability to set the stage, and this film had no interest in framing our favorite monster. It was very strange. After leaving the theatre it felt like this was not a GODZILLA film. Honestly it felt like he made a cameo in this film rather than being the main attraction. Kind of like Hulk Hogan's role in Gremlins 2 (not really, but u get the point).

When he was on screen, which was INCREDIBLY minimal, i have to go back and time it out, after it comes on netfilx or blu ray...out of the 30 films, he may be on screen for the least amount of time out of any of the 30 films. While this would not necessarily be a problem, it's his peculiar sense, understanding & awareness of humanity that left me perplexed. He is on his best behavior at all times when around the humans, living harmoniously, and respecting their space. this was mind-boggling, I thought it was laughable that godzilla was swim long distances right next to the US battle ships and and just mind his own business and sat idliing in the harbor with battle ships around him, respecting their space waiting or the MUTO's to show movement. I'm all for GODZILLA saving the earth from monsters, but the human & godzilla unity and alignment was surely a head slapper. GODZILLA was too courteous and respectful.

The MUTO's have to be GODZILLA's LEAST memorable opponents of all time. These things were brutal to watch, their design was goofy and uninspired. i have noting to say about the MUTOs, they could've put any single TRADEMARKED Toho Kaiju in this film and it would've been worlds better than the MUTO.

GODZILLA uses his atomic breath 2 times in this film, 2 times. When he did discharge his famous weapon it left a lot to be desired. I was hioping for a GMK charge and discharge of the atomic breath and it seemed like 1/2 power at best...also thought it was weird it was charged from tip of tail to moving up his back and out his mouth.

In the majority of the GODZILLA films, his roar remains relatively consistent, slightly varied, but it's always identifyable as GODZILLA's roar. This film though they were too good for that signature roar. My ears were trying sooooooooooo hard to hear the famous roar and it never came thorough. HELL even the 1998 Zilla has the signature roar. This really pissed me off, it's GODZILLA's calling card...and they didn't use it
:slap

The fight scenes in this movie are a joke. The is one good Godzilla kill, it's the last kill, that is the only good kaiu part of this film lasted about 4 seconds. But aside from kill that the fight scenes are forgettable.

All of the Godzilla films have pretty much the same formula. Monsters get introduced on by one. The Monsters meet up and brawl #1. Plot, Monsters meet up again Brawl #2. Monsters meet up again, GODZILLA kills the monsters... returns to sea in most circumstances. At the airport, that was supposed to be monster brawl #1. Instead what to they do, the cut and transition to a scene immediately after the first strike is thrown. And this knuckle-head director thought it would better for the audience to see GODZILLA fight the MUTO on a radio broadcast cut into little 2 second segments, through the eyes of one of the main characters watching 19" TV. The final battle scene which people referred to as "EPIC" was the biggest letdown of the movie. I was expecting to have an AVENGERS-type final battle, this final battle can only be described as fumble, honestly nothing worth noting.

Lastly, this film should not have been called GODZILLA. To date there have been 3 movie entitled GODZILLA. The 1954 classic, the Mathew Broderick abomination, and this 2014 blunder. They thought this film deserved the title GODZILLA, this was as far from a GODZILLA film as i have ever seen.

A a refresher, I watch all 29 Godzilla films in the past 2 months in prepare to accurately judge this release...through the eyes of a GODZILLA fan judging a GODZILLA movie. Sadly, the only movie in the franchise this is comparable to is the 1998 US release.

I went to the movies to see GODZILLA do his thing, he did not. as a GODZILLA film, this movie was a failure.

My breakfast consisted of my wife busting my balls by watching the end battle in Final Wars and repeating over and over from the other room "Now that's what i'm talking about".

I agree with Godzilla being too courteous and respecting the humans. I didnt like that. He wasn't a threat to them they were too brave around Godzilla. Hell even the Fiat commercial completely shows Godzilla in a much different light.

As for the Mutos and kanji action and fights, I loved them all. I dont like the cut-away gimmick technique before some of the earlier confrontations. But I got no complaints about the last 20 minutes.

I think they were going for the jaws angle of giving teases here and there building it up to the final showdown.

I liked that they gave plausible motivations for the muto behaviour instead of just building smashing for 2 hours.

The mutos were very cool creatures. I loved the train track sequence.

yummy

She said the effects were outstanding in G2014 but she felt his arms were too short and should've been used more.

I think she really wanted to see Godzilla do his wrestling moves from Final Wars. :lol

wait

:horror

I liked how the Mutos mimicked sound. nifty it was.

I didn't catch on to that, gives me an excuse for another viewing. :lol

I think you're being a little harsh on the film/M.U.T.O's, Bezzerkerr.

The human stories/acting excluding Cranston was the real let down of the film. The lack of Godzilla in the second half of the film is another gripe I have. The M.U.T.O's were great IMO and definitely something I had no problem with.

It's not a bad film but unfortunately it's not great either. It's a 6.5/10 from me.

I thought it was ludacris the Mutos began to snuggle and cuddle while one had agiant bomb in it's mouth.

for me there was not a single thing about the mutos that wowed me.

Why? It was a tube crammed with the energy they feed off of. Its like a male bird bringing a fat, juicy work to its nesting mate. They probably didnt know it was weaponized.

The mutos were perfect to me because they looked cool, had a personality, yet didnt take the shine away from Godzilla in the few scenes he was actually in.

Godzilla Final Wars > Godzilla 2014 = Divorce

Military were stupid.

I didn't buy using a train for a nuke when those things are flown all over the place, point proven that they flew it anyways after the train was wrecked.

Should've just flown it to begin with, Muto's EMP was pretty easy to avoid.

Hell, half of every water tower in the US has an ICBM underneath it. :lol

The EMP was lame, todays tanks, helicopters and jets can hit targets from miles away, including drones.

Nope, in this movie they attack the Mutos with machine guns only.

In real life, one of those things land anywhere and they will get 500 simultaneous tomahawks in the blink of an eye, especially after evacuations are complete.

Let them fight.

Eh? Without any electronics working, how would you be able to do the targeting and take out an EMP bursting source the size of a building from miles away? The thing is they had to rig the timer with a analog one because then a hit of the EMP from the MUTO's would even take out the bomb's detonation system. With EMP charges that high the whole city's electric grid failed. It only came back after the last MUTO died.

True had they not created a limitation with their EMP strike by showing their field of influence.

Military could easily slam them from miles away, non stop.

Instead lets attack with machine guns. :lol
