There is an angle to this film where Godzilla is an absolute jerk for actively seeking out a mommy and a daddy monster, trapped in a modern world, just minding their own business, trying to make babies.

Godzilla is a grumpy ****. No MUTO kids gonna ruin his neighborhood.

Even if X-Men tramples it next weekend, if this has a $100 million opening, the movie cost $160, it's already on it's way to making a profit and that's just domestic box office.

I don't care if this movie is number one, though if it fared better than X-Men, which I really doubt, that'd be amazing. I hope it has a sustained success and goes on to rebirth the franchise and spawn more films and maybe some cartoon films or series to suppliment.

Now you got me thinking.

I'm guessing G came after them because he needed to remain an alpha predator, or was it to protect earth's balance.

No doubt we've messed up the planet, but he was leaving us alone.

How were the Muto's a threat to him?

If he protected us then he must not think that humans are messing up mother nature.

What was his end game other than showing off his cool atomic breath to the humans. :lol

This opening just wrote the check for the sequel. :yess:

High budget Godzilla sequel, that's a first.

Maybe we'll learn that Mutos are aliens and they killed the dinosaurs :horror and these aliens came from a planet that also has a certain three headed dragon! :horror

Or maybe that skeleton in the beginning was Mrs. G and Godzilla was taking revenge.

Just like my dream of a green gold toothed kaiju fighting Godzilla will never come true too :(

That was either another Godzilla or maybe they didn't show the neck bones splitting off into 3 different directions. :horror

Didn't they also find fossolized p o o p. :panic:

Man, I miss that gold tooth.

That's ******** how we got our animated avatars and sigs taken away.

Saw this yesterday and was bored. Just did nothing for me. There was one awesome Godzilla moment at the end, other than that, it felt like they played it way, way too safe. Production value was great so if you see if for just the FX, you'll be happy. Thought Cloverfield was 3 times more exciting

Jye is now weak since visiting the dentist to get the gold removed...He's like Old Abominable loosing his choppers to Klondike Cornelieus...nothing but a green giant...he might as well be out selling veggies in a bag at the frozen food section. ;) Now Biojex is out in front of him on the list...who woulda thought :)

Time for a good old fashioned TDKR/LOS style social rebellion. :lol

Kid friendly Godzilla, no shocker really.

Cloverfield is a decent movie no doubt, but I don't find G2014 to be worse.

I saw this earlier and thought it was average at best. I felt Godzilla had nowhere near enough screen time and found the final fight underwhelming.
Bryan Cranston was holding the movie up was and killed off way to soon. I enjoyed the first half of the movie without godzilla much more than the second half with him so I'm not sure what that says. IMAX looked incredible as always but the film was just boring imo, I much prefered Gareth Edwards "Monsters" due to actually having cared for the characters.

5, maybe 6/10 for me.

I'm glad the action was easy to follow in this flick, could have easily turned into a nauseating transformers or cloverfield mess. I'm reading the art book right now, so many cool designs thrown in there.

Saw it Thursday and thought it was good, but it didn't have enough Godzilla in it. Godzilla seemed like the ultimate house wrecker by annihilating the mutos future plans :lol. It looked like a twisted love story with a 300ft c__kblocker. Cranston's finale should've been saved for the final act of the movie, because his presence was superior to every other actor easily :slap. I give it a 8/10 or a B-.

Oh and I couldn't help but be distracted and disgusted because someone sitting in my vicinity kept busting out their ass. The smell was sick and that was unacceptable. :fart :nono:yuck
