Soooo....the events of Gojira didn't happen then. He never attacked Tokyo. And the Oxygen Destroyer didn't kill him I guess? Or maybe it killed one (hence the skeleton) and then they tried to nuke this one. Or they woke this one up. I don't know...

According to that leaked script, whatever Godzilla is, he's some kind of species of massive dinosaur that lives in the ocean and several of them may have survived the dinosaur extinction. One of them died only recently and that's the skeleton you see in the cave. The other one was around Japan during World War II, came out of the ocean because of the atomic bombings in Japan and for nine years was spotted around Japan's coastal waters up until 1954 when the US tried to kill it with an atomic bomb. I suppose the radiation from the attack mutates Godzilla and makes him bigger and more powerful (atomic breath, etc...). The US has covered up his existence for 60 years. And covered up whatever the MUTOS are.

I really enjoyed the look of it! The feel and atmosphere especially! That simply rocked! :rock

I have complete faith in this project now! The pacific testing was to kill it?! Neat! Hail to the KING!!!! :bow

You can't kill Godzilla. You can only hope to contain him! Only GINO can be killed.

Okay, gotcha.

Damn it I just want to watch this movie and see how it all plays out. I hope they show other Godzillas. Even the one that just died...it'll be interesting to see if he looks different that the main star Godzilla.

This movie is going to be epic! So excited for ATJ and Lizzies careers after this and the Avengers 2.

MaulFan is quiet. I'm guessing he's watching the trailer on repeat.:lol

4 times so far but only cuz I'm at work :lol

Did the scientist say that they weren't nuclear bomb tests, they were trying to destroy him in 54.

The rumor is that the U.S. knows of him in '54 and tries to nuke him. The events of Gojira don't happen in this film's timeline.

I know what you mean. It really is a spiritual sequel to the original while being its own thing. The MUTOs look gnarly. And Godzilla looks perfect.

The glimpses of the monsters definitely made me feel the same.
When the spines came out from the water underneath I had horrible flashbacks of an old man fishing on the docks
:exactly:

But the human cast brought me back to reality.
I'm not a fan of the cast, except maybe Watanabe.

We shall see. I hope we're both blown away.
I hope so too, just don't wanna be enthusiastic about another remake.

And that's just... ARRRGH!
Srsly, Hiroshima and Nagasaki wasn't enough? You need to make up another blow of Japan???
Such a genius writing... ugh.

I though it was too cheesy, felt like watching a trailer for Emmerich's movie.

No way i Riddick Serious

I'm optimistic though. They are at least treating the character seriously. It looks better than most of Toho's recent Godzilla films anyway.

Nothing and I mean nothing feels like the the GINO Godzilla film. The Tidle wave taking out the civilians is better then anything in the GINO film. Perhaps coming out of the water had a little bit of the feel but only in look (something large coming out of the water) and not tone.

This film looks to be doing everything right.

I'm not sure where you got that, I got the impression it was japan that was bombing him in the 50s trying to kill him, not the US. Japan is the one covering him up.

It sounded like an Asian man talking about those events in 1954.

The trailer was awesome.:clap I'm a long time Godzilla fan and I think finally this movie will do justice on the God himself. We can all forget the **** 1998 version and if this is a success we should be seeing more Godzilla films from Toho. I'm crossing my fingers this is a success.
