dude i like the way the eyes are being done on this shot..very cool!!even though its preliminary!!:D

Ultimate Weapon - sowwy.... I'll stop right away :monkey5

Ed, FlyandFight, Kamen - thanks guys... I should be able to mold this towards the end of the week and do a test cast. I ran out of silicone doing my last head (Ripley)

Entropy Chicken - yeah I ditched the furrowed brow largely.... in my opinion it was one of the things holding it back from looking like Orlando. Plus, it will give us all the most varied style of poses we can do with this head, from standing talking to Boromir and Aragorn, to aiming his bow and arrow, to just running around and being all.. elfy. lol

He's not being that frowny for very much of the film, so I felt that to have him all warrior angry looking, wasn't the Legolas we saw on screen. And certainly not the one we saw prtrayed by Orlando Bloom.

We'll know if I was successful once I get it molded and get the test cast done at the end of this week/the weekend.

oh... and i sculpted some eyebrows onto the head, in a new slightly more orlando shape..... man it's hard sculpting physical eyebrows at that scale. I've only ever painted them before... and THAT was hard enough :lol

Dude, that first knife post is the most awesome EVER!!!!!!!! THAT'S how to pose this guy!

Wish I could see one of Hunky's resculpts posed by edwint and photoshopped by MaulFan. THAT would be an amazing photo!

well the Legolas sculpt is officially finished, whether it's better or not is another matter, lol.

It's being molded as we speak (takes 48 hours for a 2 part mold... bah, I wanna paint this thing now), then the first cast is being painted for myself (and to see if it looks any good! lol

Can't wait to see the finished product Darren!

Are you doing anything to Boromir? Just a repaint perhaps?

I can't wait to see this painted either!! That head sculpt is 100x better in my opinion!! Awesome work!!!!

With the right silicone you could have that puppy molded, demolded, and ready to cast up in one afternoon. ;)

Can't wait to see the final result...

thanks folks.... I've been waiting to have this finished to paint it since before time began it feels like :lol

As for Boromir, I'll be resculpting his cheeks slightly, possibly his beard, but mainly the change I'll be making is where his hair touched his forehead. At the moment it kinda looks like he's wearing a hat, but you should be able to see where the hair touched the scalp at the centre part. So I'll be cutting away part of the rubber hair sculpt in the centre and resculpting it.

Just for me this one though, as this is the soft rubber/plastic hairpiece I'll be resculpting and not the head cast. With Legolas I've managed to remove the hair and just work on the head, with Boromir I'll be working on the hair itself, making it impossible to offer as a resculpted piece.

If it works well enough of course... (and doesnt take me too long) I may take on commissions lol

I had the same issue with Boromir and got really good results heating the hair piece with a heat gun, bending it closer to his forehead and ears then dunking it in cold water to get it to set in the new position. Presto! no gap at the scalp. Just a thought you might try before whipping out the knife.

You might also consider making a mold/cast of the head sans hairpiece and offering that depending on demand for a re-sculpted Boromir which there may not be as he came out very well IMO.

I'd love to see some pictures of your Boromir. Can you post some? I'm curious to see how your hair treatment looks.
