Besides the eyes, i think the eyebrows too, it's still off looking with the fixed eye. His eyebrows were never that thick and dark!

Wow this bust looks bad. The WETA bust isn't any better but it is at a smaller scale. There are a few WETA Scuplts that missed, but their LOTR line blows SS's away. And hopefully people will be adding to their WETA collection when the Hobbit comes out.

Woodsy you know what, don't waste your time trying to convince people, I mean if its not obvious that this bust (SS) even with the gammy eye, still has a far superior sculpt and detail on it than the Weta bust, then enough said.....

You know what, your absolutely right! I've got to stop letting these mindless Weta parrot's like Nasedo [895 posts and about 890 of them with the "Weta is better" slogan...very enlightening ] get to me. I'm certainly not happy with the Marty Feldman eyes on this prototype and I'm not sure why SS didn't make sure the eyes were painted correctly before unleashing these photo's on us...but this is not a flaw in the sculpt, it looks like poor paint app's [only where the eyes are concerned]though it could have something to do with the angle of the shot as well. Still it's something that can easily corrected. Clearly however, the sculpt is superior to Weta's version in every way. Is the likeness perfect?...no it's not, but it is certainly better than anything we've ever seen before.

I agree and also is going to be another one of those busts that will look awesome in person, like the WIKI!!! heh heh!! Sorry didn't mean to start that up again but he is coming very soon, yippee!!!

If you are unhappy (or happy) with the appearance of his work based on these initial photos, feel free to express your opinion. That's what the Freaks board is all about, after all. However, please remember to avoid any personal comments, insults, attacks or death threats.

It's unbelievable how much the teaser pic in the ad looks like Orlando but how bad the rest is. I really thought based on the teaser that this was a home run. If you're gonna do a human likeness in this line, it better be spot on. This is not.

There might be too much forhead there.. so the eye/eye brow region it whats throwing it off. It's still awesome.. but that area really makes it Not like Bloom.

Geez . . .who unleashed the Sideshow cavalry?? All I'm saying is that I prefer the Weta bust to this one, no matter how girly it looks. Recall that Weta created the busts not necessarily with the attempts to replicate the actor. For Sideshow to charge me 4x the amount for a Legendary Scale version, likeness is the least that has to be met.

For the record, I already own all the Weta busts and statues, but, I have additionally bought the Gandalf LS bust because they didn't do that bad on that one. If anything, I have the ability to be more selective now because my LOTR cupboard overfloweth. I still bought the Frodo vs Gollum dio, and bought all the 12" figures.

So, Shai and Woodsy, unless you're willing to go mano-a-mano with my LOTR collection, I'd say your opinions don't hold much weight.

For the record, Weta's ability is still the record to beat. So, I'm really holding Sideshow to a higher level. The Eagle vs FB is showing some innovation at their part, and so is the 12" line. Everything else . . .remains to be seen and judged on a case by case basis.

Sauron, the Morgul Lord, Gandalf on Shadowfax (just off the top of my head) are all horrible pieces.

I am definitely gonna spend $200 and upgrade to the L.S. Legolas bust.
