His eyes are really messed up... they rest looks awesome! Pass for me :lol though.

Thank God ... I'm not the only one who noticed that. I am usually not that picky about Sideshow sculpts, but it is a disgrace to advertise that piece with those pics ... and an even worse disgrace if they release him cross-eyed. Eye paint jobs are easy to fix - make it so, then put up new pics, or you will be luck to sell a 100 SSC ... :monkey4

Im very curious, how can you be a professional painter yet leave the eyes looking as disfigured as that?

So it its just the eyes that are the problem, the question is, can it be fixed by 3rd Quarter?

I hope so cuz the rest of this piece is amazing.

The eyes are a bit off and the nose seems a bit big (but wonder if that's because of the eyes?). Can it be the lighting that's creating that "old" look? Would like to order him because there IS a great sculpt under the paint and the details are amazing. But now....will have to ponder.

Another pic for fun :lol

He looks like Bill Murray!!

From some of the other poses it looks really good. There is great detailing on the quiver and costume. There is a side shot that really does look like Orlando Bloom...it's just the eyes that don't work.

Agreed. There is a lot of great detail on everything else... but the face/eyes is unforgivable. It takes a lot for me to turn down an LOTR bust, but this just simply sux because of the face. Maybe to pose him looking at back and quiver...

Wow; that's pretty sad. I hope Sideshow tries to fix that paint job or else this will really hit the line hard. Frankly, I think Legolas has a more challenging likeness than Aragorn, and this piece is an unfortunate let-down. I wonder if Sideshow just felt rushed to get it out or something. All I know is, they had better not hurt the Gandalf 1:6 figure. I couldn't care less about the LS busts, but if they do anything to hurt my 1:6 figures there will be no mercy!

... the poor Legolas sculpt again... :monkey2

I have never seen a LS bust in person, but I really don't think the eyes are "sculpted" ... which would mean that there is no "poor" Legolas sculpt. Just a poorly painted statue. Which is the easiest of the 2 to fix so here's hoping (for the people who give a flying f' about this line anyway) that they take the time to fix "Shifty" Swifty.

Sideshow has fixed eyes quickly before. BOTH Han Solo 12 figures' proto preview pages had the wrong eye color and Sideshow had updated them by the figures' PPO. Could have just been photoshoped, but I think someone would have caught that horrid paint job on the eyes. I bet even I could paint eyes that weren't that crosseyed.

I just think it's pretty sad that if these do come with properly painted eyes from the factory....it would basically mean that factory painters in china can paint better than one of sideshow's employees....

He kinda looks like Niles Crane there...

And for the people calling for the painters blood... can you really do better? Sure it does look a bit off in the eyes, but the rest of the paint pretty damn nice looking. Most likely the final piece (not that I'm ordering) will look better. I think the off to the side eyes don't always photograph well anyway.

Not saying I can do better, but Im also not a professional painter.

The painting of this proto is the most important part of the whole process imo. It shows the consumer what exactly they are spending their money on. Not to mention it "should" be perfect because it is painted by a pro not some over worked factory worker. look at all the negative press it's getting just because of the eyes.

Im just boggled as to how someone could look at it and say, that looks great. overall it does look good but im referring to the crooked eyes.

I agree with you there, but experience shows that proto paint means nothing... so I guess I wouldn't get that worked up about it. Anyway probably better to be crossed-eyed now and fixed in production that the opposite effect that happened with poor Buffy.

Although overall I do think the likeness appears to have some issues that crooked eyes or no crooked eyes might not be able to fix.
