The Cave Troll and Daddy Balrog statues were never supposed to be a part of the sixth-scale statue line.

Whatever gave you that idea? :D

Seriously, they're in the minibeast statue line -- along with the Watcher, the Fell Beast, Shelob, and the Mumak. This line was never supposed to have a fixed scale, but provide the dimensions that worked best for the particular creature design. Both the Balrog and the Troll proved to be so successful that Weta later sculpted a new Balrog and a new Troll in slightly reduced dimensions, but this just highlights the versatility of the minibeast line.

The same principle goes for the environment line.

So, Woodsy, you see: the next time you have an assumption about the scale of a particular Sideshow/Weta line -- do check it with me first.;)

:lol I'll do that...and next time you think the FB in a certain diorama is the same size and scale as a certain purple FB statue...check with me first :p

Um, well, based on preview pics, the Fell Beast in the new diorama is quite close in scale to the old Fell Beast. So what exactly do I have to check?

;)

This looks like a great bust. I hope that they do the entire Fellowship as LS busts.

The fellowship would be nice, but with this line, I want more minor characters that will probably not get any treatment in the PF line or even the 12" line due to their slow release.

Here's a quick and sloppy rush job that at least gives us a good idea of what this is going to look like:

I am looking forward to seeing the real thing--it's nice to see a Legolas that isn't shooting an arrow!

Tom, the elements in your composite weren't shot from the same angle -- I'm sure you know this, but hopefully people won't complain too much.

I agree, this is an excellent bust.

Well, I was just going for Gandalf and Balrog items, but if they are going to do the entire Fellowship, I may have to get more shelves.

Well now I am definitely getting this, it looks like being the best likeness of Legolas/Orlando so far, thanks Josh for the pix!

Without a doubt the most accurate representation of Legolas we've ever seen, a terrific likeness. Another amazing bust by SS!

WOW!! That looks really good, the only thing that I think needs to be changed is that the eyebrows need to be thinned out a tad otherwise it's an amazing sculpt. And the details on the costuming is fantastic. :rock

I know, so I gave up trying to do a nice job with it. Just trying to get a quick general idea how all the pieces fit together. I like the pose they chose.

Thanks for the pics, Josh. I like the expression on his face. It's more masculine than other statues/busts I have seen. He looks like a man on a mission.
