Here's a few more pic's compliments of Trevor of the unfinished sculpt. SS definitely made some alterations in regard to the positioning of the bow.

Got my order in. Love the low edition size. Now I just need Aragorn and GTG to convert.

I bought it even though I'm disappointed that his knives are not on his back. The legs are a little off, I'm not sure why they look strange to me. Overall, face much better than weta version. I think the PF looks better and I still favor the PF's. I hope sideshow will continue the LOTR PF's even though they are working on this line. Last few PF's were excellent. I like the low edition size, but it's worrisome that sideshow may abandon this line because sales weren't as expected. Too many half finished lines with just the same main characters. Also, pretty pricey. I know costs have gone up, but really should be around $175. $225 is not all that affordable to most people.

Well, they did price the ex the same as the reg this time. That's at least something. :lol

I, for one, never understood where people say the LotR items don't sell well. It may take longer for them to sell out, but they will eventually. Most items are waitlisted or sold out. I have no doubt that SSC is making money on LotR.

Look at the Star Wars SSC pages and see how many things are still available.

They may just cancel the diorama line and focus full time in this one. This maquette line and the PF line can be the only 2 things they make LOTR related and that would be okay.

Ordered. If anything, I should be able to get the "Three Hunters" out of this line, with Gimli on the horizon.

I also hope they keep going with the PF line, though I have a bad feeling they'll slow down alot with LOTR PFs. Even talk of a mounted RW has me worried, because I feel that it will backfire on them. Obviously, I hope it won't, but I just don't think the price tag will go over well. SW fans are rabid and they'll pay lots for an Emperor on throne PF, but will enough LOTR fans come out to support a large-sized PF? Especially, given how masterpieces like PF GTG still sit on SSC's site, including the Ex.

Anyway, I like the Legolas and look forward to the Gimli...

I have to say that I'm having some of the same thoughts myself Red. I prefer PFs and as for the RWOS, I can definately see it affecting my purchase of MQs like Arwen, Gimli & Boromir. I'd much rather put that $675-$700 towards the RWOS!

For now, I've got the first 3 on order and am anxiously awaiting the notice of Aragorn's arrival (should be this coming week)!:)

I'm totally amazed and exhilarated that Legolas has already hit low quantity, with only about 40 left showing. Weird though that they forgot to put the NRD on the exclusive, since it was clearly stated with the preview. Wonder what will come of that and also if that is helping push the quick sellout.

I think maybe the NRD was meant for Hook and not for Legolas but I am glad he's selling out quickly.

But he would definitely sell slower with an NRD. I actually like the NRD as it gives me time to mull over a purchase and decide if I want to commit to the piece 100%, and I even think it should be set at 20%.

Anyway, once again, I forgot to use the link from the Freaks board to get Dave the credit. I'm going to have to post a huge note in front of my face to remember during each order from here on.

Off to bed... :D

I wonder how much of an impact it would have had. Probably slowed it down a bit I would say.

I don't mind the NRD's.
It gives us a better idea of the real sales ...

*sigh* Yeah, there were soooo many great and seemingly endless possibilities with the dio line. Too bad they screwed the pooch on at least two iconic face-offs (Gandalf vs. Balrog and the Sauron vs. Isildur that could've been).

I think the regular has a better continuity,a better flow in it.The right hand with the knive is bothering me.

I'll definitely pre-order the regular one from my LCS. :hi5:

No doubt you can save a few dollars this way, but the excl. does allow for a 2nd display option, should the fighting knives pose "grow on you" over time. And should you have to sell Legolas at a later date, you would be much better off with the excl. edition. :lecture

The other ones didn't have NRDs, so we'll see what happens when Aragorn ships. If there's a lot of cancellations, it might not bode well. Though I think it will eventually sell back out anyway.

I'm really shocked that both Gandalf PFs are back in stock. I'm sure when the Hobbit gets closer to release, or as more production news comes out, some of the slow sellers will sell out.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Aragorn. There will certainly be cancellations, but it seems like quite a few folks have jumped on the wait list for him over the past two weeks.

^^True... I found myself jumping on the WL after the group picture on the 12 days. I get the feeling that it was an excellent marketing move from SSC as it gave many just the little push they were waiting for.
