Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Les, you rock. Sad to see one of the greats retire, but all must at some point right. Can't stay gold forever Ponyboy, but you always will in my books. Keep on Keepin' on Les. We're with ya! :rock

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

It's a shame the grind has gotten you like it did with DarkArtist. You two guys are responsible for the big customizing boom that started on this board in my opinion, and a lot of great art resulted from that.

Whenever my Clark Kent head is ready (no rush, it's done when it's done), if you need a few extra bucks to ship it, just holler at me.

Hang in there, man.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Keep your chin up Les. The Joker heads will blow people away when they have them in hand. It will be worth the wait guys :rock

If you need any shipping money from me for the Joker head let me know and I'll send it over :)

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

This is a sad day Les, the FigureMaster himself announcing his retirement. :(

Hang in there and to ANY of you ^^^^s who asked for a refund, I only wish Les could manage so that you could all kick yourselves when you see the rest of us posting pics of his masterpieces.

A gent. A FigureMaster. A man. A Les. A friend.

All the best good sir. :)

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Hope you get better Les. Sorry your retiring but maybe you will get a break from the chaos. you most definately deserve a rest. I will miss your masterpieces on this board. Take care of yourself. :D

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

I am retiring from all this for all time.

This is sad news indeed Les...I will cherish my repaints even more so.

I wish you luck!! If you need anything please shoot me a message on Facebook.

Your'e good people and I hope those here remember this.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Hey Les, I am so sorry that it's come down to you needing to retire. I honestly didn't see that coming - I seems as if customizing is not as profitable as I thought it would be. Ofcourse that, and all the medical problems that you had gone through. Had that not occurred, you would have had more time to finish your commissions, hence being able to take more and stay in business.

I am very happy that you still have the passion though, despite everything.

As for shipping money, aren't people paying you for shipping? I wouldn't expect you to swallow that cost.

Miss seeing you here man. Hopefully when you are caught up and things settle down for you, you'll be more relaxed and we'll see more of you on the boards.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Thanks all. Very kind. Actually, my retirement announcement was listed here weeks back, and also on my website homepage, but nobody noticed I guess.
Anyway, thanks.

Not feeling well today, on some cough meds and not enough sleep, so I am kinda out of it, but I am of course kinda sad about needing to retire, but, I pretty much have to. Too many things outside all this to solve now.

I made one simple mistake a year or two back, I forgot to consider my true age issues (and not my mental state of mind...which ALWAYS will think much younger) and how they would affect my work, and my family issues which grew up suddenly and exploded, hampering everything. Let that be a lesson to all of you out there, to plan better than I ever did, not to promise too much in too little time, and to get done what you can, when you can, as fast as you can, before Mother Nature descends and starts leveling that playing field, because She will! Trust me! You'll all see for yourselves one day. Sadly.

But anyway, I am gonna finish all the current paints, (By the end of August in time for my own birthday is my goal) with an optimistic attitude, and tryng of course to make as many of you as happy as I can, and knowing all the while that I will always make someone somewhere angry...that's a tough one to learn...no matter how hard I try...but as long as I finish everything, then I can live with myself, and for me, now in my life, that is all that matters. I have to finish it all.

I just hope as many of you guys as possible like the resulting work you're getting soon.

Back to the bench...
Thanks again for the kind words guys. Means much.

Amen!

Nothing to add.

BTW: Les you cannot retire. I just learned that you exist. :lol

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

One things for sure, when I get my figure master heads you can damn well bet I will feel like one lucky so of a gun to own some of Les' amazing work now that that won't be possible anymore. Les you have been delt a million bad hands and because you're a good guy you have some serious good karma coming your way you better believe that!

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Wow...I am stunned to say the least. One of my personal favorite true artists of all time retiring. First, Drew Struzan...now Les Walker. :monkey2 I am VERY fortunate to already own some of Les Walker's MASTERPIECES, and will have my last one from him someday soon. :D Les...I don't want to say everything to you in this post. I will call you and/or e-mail you soon. Always know Les, that you were and still are one of the VERY BEST people out there in this world. Your pure talent, and your great personality make you such an outstanding person in my opinion!

I'll talk to you very soon my friend,

"VBR"

Mike

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

I look forward to my Mola Rom Les, knowing that you have painted it. It will be a great honor having it on my shelf. :) (It will be my first, and I suppose my last, of your work)

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Yes, very sad to hear of your retirement, Les. I think of you everytime I look at my two 1989 Joker figures. Both are works of art because of you and are truly priceless. :bow

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

You may retire Les but our respect for you on this board never will. :rock

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Big Les i know you mentioned it awhile ago and i was caught alittle off gaurd when you said you may retire. I completely understand though. I know there will be a come back in the future this isnt the last we have seen or heard from the Figuremaster. :peace

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

I knew Les was retiring but I believe he will still be here-which is great. Les was the one who lead me to this site. I found his site and SSF link. I never knew that this place or Sideshow exsited. So SS has Les to thank for me bing out of almost 3k on 12" toys. Les thank you.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Les is retiring from the business aspect, but he'll continue to make custom works and be an active collector, he loves this hobby, he just doesn't want to be involved in the business side like he'd gotten to be.

Visit his website, you'll see the sort of cool things he did before he came to become the custome figure maker for higher, that's what his retirement is about, returning to those sorts of things.

Les' retirement means a loss of having him for hire, but his work and friendship will still be around, he's not fading away.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009

Yeah i hope you def continue to share with us your personal custom works. Always fun to see them.

Re: LES WALKER - All NEW Custom Works 2009
