I haven't kept up with this thread 'cause I wanted to see the film fresh. I couldn't avoid some of the positive feedback from about the place though, so my expectations were up a little bit.

2 1/2 hour grumpy odd-couple blood fest road movie.

Forget about so-called preachiness, that angle doesn't come close to describing what made this movie a steaming pile of doo doo.

Did you also find Hell or High Water & No Country for Old Men to be "doo doo"?

While I don't think this movie is bad per say, it's very overrated.

It's a great old tough-guy movie and a great treatment of Wolverine if you're a fan of Jackman's take IMO. It might be my favorite CBM but I wouldn't rate it a truly great film on it's own merits, even if it shares some visual and thematic ground with NCFOM.

:lol you're drawing these into comparison? NCfOM >>>>>>>>>>>> Logan

Haven't yet seen HoHW.

Yeah, it wasn't that bad... just full of itself and as you say, overrated.

A second viewing of Apocalypse did not change my initial opinion. It's right down there with X-Men Origins. Perhaps even below it

For large parts of it I felt a strange sense of embarrassment at what I was seeing. For some reason so much of what worked in the other movies was, in this film, tired at best (the Xavier/Magneto stuff) or downright cringeworthy (pretty much any scene Jennifer Lawrence was in, the X-kid scenes and sadly the Weapon X bit aswell)

It's slow as ****, really terrible pacing, some very dodgy effects and of course the problem of Magneto becoming a mass murderer and no one seeming to have a huge problem with it because he changed his mind and became of some assistance in the final battle.

I've yet to see Apocalypse, and I'm in no rush to do so. It's got that feeling of "let's jam pack this movie with a bunch of today's young 'talent'!" Easy pass.
