The only thing I like in the theatrical cut of Fellowship over the EE is the transition to Hobbiton from the prologue. In the extended edition, the music just doesn't work as well.

And to me that is HUGE... because that added bit before Hobbiton changes the entire tone and feel of the beginning of the film. As a result, the EE doesn't have nearly as much heart or charm to me.

Anyone else read this comment from IGN:

In related news, Warner will partner with the likes of Sideshow Collectibles and Games Workshop to create merchandise to support the release, including Rings-related toys and games.

Do you think Sideshow will make gift sets like those that they made with the DVD's? I can't imagine that they will make "Toys" as that term gets thrown around pretty loosely by marketing departments.

I'll buy both versions as they become available. I'll be happy with the theatrical versions for now and then the EEs with all the bells and whistles in about three years or so.

I will buy both...

Not only do I have both the EE and Theatrical on DVD, I have both Widescreen and 4:3 Theatrical DVDs.

If it takes them 3 years to make the EEs, then I know I'll be buying the theatrical ones.

I just have the EE deluxe editions but without the SS extras. I've been thinking about picking up all the other versions, probably used, for the extras.

If the studios were smart, they'd release these as soon as possible. There will be some that can't wait that long for the EEs, and the sooner they release these, the more money they'll make. If they wait too long, more people will wait.

I agree, they could've made a killing if they released the regulars before Xmas.
Sounds good to me.Lets stretch them to 5hrs each making it a nice round 15hr marathon.:D

Bedsores for everyone!!!!I did the SW OT marathon a few years ago and after the first movie I had to get up and stretch every 30 minutes.
