I don't have a problem with the focusing on certatin characters. They did it last season and it let more info out about a certain group. This season is no different.

I mean, does anyone really care why or where Jack got that tattoo?

Actually, I've wondered what it meant myself. It has a meaning to his personality and why he is where he is in the life he has. It also I'm sure has relevance to his place on the island as well. Sometimes people need to go deeper into the meaning of things instead of just wanting it slapped right out there.

This show like the X-Files which I like are all about the quesions more so than the answers. Made the X-Files pretty popular really as is Lost. I think a lot of the issues is people not being very patient with whats going on. They want it now, now now and this show is not about that. Especially, since it's only supposed to be a 4-5 seaspm show with a Big Movie to finish things off.

I thought that it was interesting to find out what Jack's tattoo means. But we found that out from one of the Others, and they could have told us that at any time without the use of a flashback.

The actual story of how he got the tattoo didn't do much for me. OK, so he went to Thailand, met a girl, made out, and got a tattoo. I expected something a little more interesting or complex or exciting than the fact that he got a tattoo from a girl he met on vacation. I guess that after a really good flashback last week, this one just kind of didn't do much for me.

I would rather have had them tell us what it means but leave it a mystery as to why he has it or how he got it.

In general, I don't actually want them to give us all of the answers at once--that would ruin the ongoing mystery of the show. But when they promise us an answer, they should give us an answer. We saw and heard Cindy in the preview last week, and the actual episode gave us almost nothing more than that. I was expecting a much longer scene with more information based on how they were hyping and advertising the episode.

I think that returning to a sense of balance between the multiple characters in the ensemble is what the show needs more than a quick answer to all of the mysteries they have laid out over two and a half seasons. I want them to take their time answering all of our questions--but I want all of the characters to get relatively equal screen time as that happens. That is the most important change that needs to be made to help the ratings. People love Locke and Hurley and Sayid and they have had nothing to do this year. Last year you had the raft group separate for the first third of the season, but the story was cutting back and forth moreso than this year's multiple episodes entirely devoted to Jack/Kate/Sawyer with no cutting back to the rest of the group.

I like the general direction of the show's developing plot and mysteries--I just don't like that they have shoved so many characters into the background.

They actually promised three! :google

I don't want this show to die an Alias death. :rip

When Jack was getting beat up, did anyone hear one of the guys say "quit stealing our women you white devils"

j/k

But that whole scene seemd out of character for Jack. Esp when he forced her to give him the tattoo. If Mathiew Fox hadn't gotten such a ridiculus thing, it probably would have never been written in the story.

Well, from what I have read, the girl that gave Jack his tattoos will be a recurring character on the show. So, because she has a "power", I wouldn't doubt her not being on the island. She'll show up on the island soon...

I was going to say that Bai Ling was a recurring character - I'm sure there's far more to the tattoo story and her power than we saw.

Yup, most people are too impatient to just let the whole picture unfold. Being a Lost fan means your in it for the long haul, anyone who's been watching since day one knows that your not going to get answers when you want them. They will come eventually and unexpectedly.

Not impatient just too trusting, remember the promos said we were going to get our questions answered, well that DIDN'T happen.

Most shows do that, if you watch Heroes you know what I'm talking about. They've promised answers so many times this season you'd think the shows finale is coming. But you know what? That makes it fun!! Plus I get to see Hayden Panettiere every week! :naughty

Is anybody else bugged by how little we have seen of Locke, Hurley, Sayid, Jin and Sun this season? Am I the only one who is disappointed by the way they have stuck half the original cast on the sidelines?

Anybody?

I have a feeling that they will show a lot more of them in the coming weeks.

Patience!

Nope, you are not alone - I find myself really missing the two add-on characters. :lol

I agree with The ill Jedi...patience. There's so much left to the season. I have no problem with how things are playing out.

Here is a list of upcoming episodes with flasback characters....

That's right!! The Brazilians!! We need them around to confirm that all of the Dharma toilets are still flushing properly.

So glad to see that they will have their own flashback episode. I hope it takes place on the island and shows them lurking around the corner during every important event of the past two seasons like in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.

I was dissapointed by the episode too. And its true that TV does hype up episodes more than there really is alot of the time. But promising 3 big answers and having one mediocre (the flight attendant and kids) and one small answer (the Others not living on the island) doesn't really cut it for me. The mystery is okay, and I don't mind hype, like missing "what everyone is talking about in the morning" that's no biggie if it turns out to be something small. Also I do think Jack's tattoo is going to be more important in the show since the lady said what the tatoo says and Jack replied thats not what it means, but the flashback was pretty dull. And I think Jack has some anger issues, at first I blamed it on the situation of being lost, but now I'm thinking he's just got rage problems. Does he have to ftfo and scream at everyone?

It is coincidence that there is also another "Jack" who screams at people and has anger problems!?

That's it! It's a Fox/ABC merger, that's where LOST is going ... they are going to save the president and the Dharma initiative are all terrorists!
