Not mine, wish I cold take credit for it. Read it as part of my Wednesday lunch ritual. (reading EW.com’s ‘essay’ on the last episode of LOST. It’s normally pretty long (6 pages), but damn is it a good read!
In fact, think about the wondrous things associated with Jacob. Richard's eternal youth. The resurrection hot spring. And, if you believe Ben from season 3, a cure for cancer. Jacob isn't ''good,'' per se — he's just capable of giving life. Put another way: Jacob is the god of beginnings. He is The Alpha. The Man in Black? Not evil — he's the god of endings. He is the Omega. The beginning and the end. Polar, warring opposites, but absolutely necessary for life to bloom (Alpha) and to have form (Omega). Both are necessary for anything to have meaning. Jacob unchecked leads to chaos; Man In Black unchecked leads to annihilation. Both need to exist in balance; both need to be equally weighted rocks on the scale.
I have not read the content in quotes above yet (all I saw was the word 'Alpha' and that was too much ). If it's from an ‘essay’ on the last episode of LOST I don't think I want to. I know that this thread says "thar be spoilers ahead!" but yikess! I don't want to know anything at all about the final episode!!!
Is there anything spoiler-ish in the portion of the essay quoted or can I read it?
The casting call for the Mysterious Boy described him as "Teenage boy, caucasian, 12-14. Dirty blond hair. Wise beyond his years. He's got intense, searching eyes. He's dealt with a horrible family accident. Even at a young age, he has been put in charge of something very important, and it weighs heavily on his shoulders."
The call sheet for Jacob described him as "Former soldier. A leader of men. Smart but more than that – he is wise. Strong and straightforward. The words he says are always listened to and they carry gravitas."
And Aaron... um... special baby? but meaningful to the story special or Walt/Miles special?
Not sure what to make of this post. It certainly doesn't prove anything about the Mysterious Boy's identity.
But, what I want to know is where you got that info. Just curious. It seems so spoiler-ish that I can hardly believe the casting call would be that specific...
Even though I love discussing LOST I may need to stay away from this thread.
Is there a spoiler free LOST discussion thread?
