Great ending to an incredible series, cried my eyes out through the whole thing. what an emotional roller coaster and such a fitting, beautiful ending

i'm reading some of the posts, whoa people didn't like the ending? i thought it was so touching and can't see a better way of ending it

Here's a spoiler so don't read it if you are into the BBC's Life on Mars/ Ashes to Ashes TV show and have not seen the finale

Both finales of Lost and the above mentioned show seemed very similar. With Lost I pretty much guessed they were in Purgatory from the first season, but with Ashes to Ashes it was a disappointment that they went the same way.

Just because the series was overal character focused, doesnt mean that it is ok to leave gaping holes in the plot wide open and countless mysteries unadressed.

From a plot standpoint, LOST was a horribly written series. Anyone who even claims that the creators had the story, or even the major aspects of the story worked out in advance is clearly lieing to themselves.

I think it was a really good finale (if not lacking a bit) but overall the series was a mess and a real waste of potential.

I don't agree with your overall assessment of the series. But as far as the mysteries are concerned, I look at it as a 'NEED vs. WANT' scenario. Did I want to know every little detail? Yes. Did we need to? I personally don't think so. I'm very happy with Jack's story/journey/arch. I'm satisfied with the ending that was given to us. Moreso than most movies I watch or books I read. If it wasn't for the Internet I doubt I'd remember half the unanswered mysteries anyways and I'm all for them leaving a little ambiguity.

But what's this show without discussion and debate? That I feel is part of it.

Except they were NOT in Purgatory from the first season. ONLY the flash sideways were "Purgatory". They had the ideal lives they wished they had, and when they were ready they could move on. That's why Daniel was an accomplished piano player and why Anna Lucia wasn't "ready" yet.

And for all those obsessed with answers - I feel very sorry for you in your life. In life you don't GET every answer. You don't get to know everything. Why then should a TV show spoon feed and give you answers to every last little detail. I remember a long time back hearing Darlton say the show was about life - and this finale more than affirmed that.

The one issue I have with the end is how many characters were left out of the church. forgive the spelling.... Dogen , charlotte, fairiday, Anna lucia, echo, nd others that died. Where were they? Ben waited outside as he was not ready to move on. I guess to them the island wasn't the most important in their lives?? With some I just don't agree or understand especially since some like Anna Lucia...Fairiday appeard in their afterlife...or maybe I just missed them and didn't notice them at ther very end at the church.

I think you are not remembering when Ana Lucia, dressed as a cop and waitinng for the money, is about to leave and Hurley asks Desmont: "Isn't she coming?" to what desmont replies: "she is not ready yet". Does it answer any of your doubts?

but it was just the Flash Sideways stuff that was the purgatory. Everything outside of them really happened. So if you guesses that way back on season 1... You're good!

now that the series is over, bring on the customs!

WORD!!!! :D

The customs here on this very board have already started for Sawyer and Locke. Here's the link to the thread featuring an incredible John Locke custom!

Here's the other thread with a great James "Sawyer" Ford custom!

Great work being done on this board as usual!

I still want to get the Medicom Jack Shepherd figure sold by Sideshow and customize him. Take him out of the black business suit he is in from the pilot, and put him in his later island gear with a gun or two.

WORD!!!! :D

Well from Season 1 I did not guess exactly what the ending was, but I pretty much guessed that an afterlife would be the end result.

That being said the show was full of surprises all the way through so I am not putting it down at all.

So, hypothetically speaking, what happens to all the Losties in the church at the end? Christian said that they were all moving on, but what does that mean? Do they follow him through that blinding light? Or do they continue to live in the sideways reality/heaven/afterlife/whatever? It's so open ended but conclusive, if that means anything.

I too have mixed feelings about the end of Lost, and I know that if I think about it for a couple days, I will begin to find holes in the ending that I could dig and dig at, but while I'm still riding the emotional high that was the last 2.5 hours, I want to say that I don't regret watching Lost for the past 6 years.

Is anyone watching Kimmel? Can't watch it myself, so hopefully someone can post the 'alternate endings' tomorrow or something.

Yes, thats true. We didnt need to know every little mystery. I can safely say that I will not be pondering the mystery of the Hurly bird for the rest of my days.

But there are some very major mysteries that were huge plot points left unexplained. The pregnancies for example, or why only specific people went back in time, or the group of Others that went to meet Sawyer at the beach after joining the MIB but never were heard from again. The entire temple folk and chinese guy who was never really explained. Walt's powers anyone? Jacob and MIB's rules? Where all that egyption crap came from?

Sure these mysteries may not be neccessary to explain the main plot, however that doesnt mean that it isnt incredibly sloppy writing to throw hundreds of questions into a plot with no real clue how to solve them or any intention to ever do so.

Holy crap, the alternate endings were EPIC on Kimmel. Explained the entire ending to Lost!! (BTW thank God Lindelof and Abrams are not comedy writers..ugh)

Yeah...they were...BAD.....:monkey4 Those "alternate" endings. I'm glad they were just only comedy bits on Jimmy's show. Hopefully the season 6 Blu-Ray set will have lots of great extras on it. Apparently it's supposed to have more information about Walt in it. So that's good news.

I just watched Jimmy Kimmel. The audience Q & A after the show COULD have been much better...but it wasn't! Too many questions not related to the show. Even Jimmy himself asked the audience to start asking more show-related questions of the cast.

But there were still some good bits in the Q & A from the cast, and during Jimmy's show. So that was cool! :)

I has a sad. :(
