Yes Desmond was there. As Jack walked into the church with his Dad you see him approach Desmond who has his hand around Penny's shoulder.

Perfect ending to my all time favorite tv show. I loved it!

I think what we saw was folks leaving the island and all going on with their lives. They all died before Jack or some after they left. In the end they all met up at the church and moved on to something better as they died all as a group.

I will miss this show. Its been a part of my life for 6 years. I've loved trying to figure things out each week (sometimes being right/wrong) and finding out what was the case. Now, that its over. Time for me/us to put closure on something and move on. Much like this group of characters did.

Michael was stuck on the island, he became a whisper.

Walt, went on and the island wasnt the best part of his life.

Eko, again the island wasnt the best part of his life.

rose and bernard were in the church i believe.

No, I don't buy that. At the end of the day, that island wasn't the best part of anyone's life. Eko became a better human being once he got to the island. Once again, Cuse and Lindeloff's approach to all this was off in my opinion. Just not satisfactory for me that's all.

Heres always been my problem with the whole purgatory idea.

If you are with the people that matter most to you, after awhile you sort of get too many degrees of seperation.

Heres what I mean. Claire and Charlie are important to one another, so they are together. They also both care about Aron, so he is there.

But Aron had his own life. Odds are his ideal form for all eternity isnt a baby. What about all the people in his life that made a difference for him? His eventual wife and children? And his children would feel the same way, and want thier family and freinds there. Eventually it becomes an infinite amount of people through various connections.

And if you say that Aron is only a baby becuase it is ideal for Claire and Charlie that he is a baby, then that means Aron isnt there at all. If only the people you care about are in your afterlife, either the only people you know are eachother, or you arent really with them.

Yes, Rose and Bernard were in the church. Bernard looked all clean shaven, as he was when they first got to the island. Rose also appeared with her shorter hair as it was in season 1.

Ok then, Ecko's actor couldn't make it back in time. Walt was too old to reasonably play his on island self. But Micheal's absence was expressly stated in the show.

I love all the people getting upset over the ending when I think it was PERFECT. How else could you tie up the characters than showing them in their idea of the afterlife? Everyone banging on about Walt needs to understand he left the show after the first season. He was important to get to the end game of Jacob and MiB, nothing more. You can't really look at the show in one way, you have to look at it in multiple ways. That's the only way it will make sense.

Agreed. In the end some people clung to the 'mystery' aspect of the show a little too hard. It's deeper and more meaningful than that. Would I have loved to have known more about the Hurley Bird? Yes. Because I didn't do I write the whole series off? Hell nah! (but seriously, put it on the BD set... ;) )

A limbo of energy? a spiritual limbo? After all the series is called LOST, and thats the place where they have found with themselves...

The light of life. If the plug was kept out the world would have been destroyed.

Where it came? Who knows. Not needed to know really. Where did God come from?

haha on Lost's facebook page it seems people are REALLY angry over the ending - and I'm seeing a lot of "I got up early for THIS" type posts, which indicates folks in Euro-land aren't too pleased with it.

Shocking....Not.

Just because the series was overal character focused, doesnt mean that it is ok to leave gaping holes in the plot wide open and countless mysteries unadressed.

From a plot standpoint, LOST was a horribly written series. Anyone who even claims that the creators had the story, or even the major aspects of the story worked out in advance is clearly lieing to themselves.

I think it was a really good finale (if not lacking a bit) but overall the series was a mess and a real waste of potential.

So what was the Island?

I think of the Island as the 'safe' of heaven. The light is the gateway to heaven (as seen at the end when Christian opens the church doors the light comes rushing in the room)....this light needs to be protected in order for heaven to exist. MiB leaving is a bad thing because he needs to put the light out to leave and by putting the light out, he is erasing heaven and allowing 'hell' to take over the Earth.

The Island is what Jacob said it is, it's basically a cork protecting heaven or whatever you believe the light is.

It really is a case of people just not paying attention. The whole ending is explained with the talk between Jack and Christian. Everything on the Island happened, and the people in the church were there because what happened on the island, those connections they made, were the most important in their lives. So you don't believe in an afterlife - good for you. Me, I'm an agnostic Protestant(Episcipalian) but I can go with it and still be moved by the story.
