How or why do you think it's okay to allow the smoke monster "Devil" off the island?
Or are you referring to the man who existed before Smoky? Because at that time there were different rules. 'Neither can die nor leave...'

Yea, and what are these rules and why do they exist? The entire Jacob/Smokey thing was all about these wierd and obscure rules with no explanation.

I have watched the finale twice and it was the most beautiful ending in the history of film. I never get choked up and I got choked up a few times watching the finale.

But he became a mortal, supposedly, in order to leave. I'm guessing he lost his Smoke monster abilities, didn't he?

Yes but it would mean the end of the world. Hence the need for the protector to keep him on the island or kill him. But Jacob couldn't kill him as it was against the rules. :slap

Why does it matter? The rules are made up by the person who protects the Island. Jacob's mother made the rule that neither of them could leave. Jacob merely kept Mother's rules after he took over. Jack wanted a way for MiB/Smokey/FLocke to be killed, so he made the rule he could be killed. Hurley and Ben will both run things differently. All the rules are to protect the Island.

He became a mortal, but he didn't think that's what would happen. He believed that the island would be destroyed and he'd be able to do what he pleased.

Since Hurley has Jacob's powers later, I think it's safe to assume MIB would've regained his powers off the island if the cork were placed back in the hole.

Exactly what I figured too. :goodpost:

You know, I gotta admit that I was bawling (sp?) during the last 30 minutes. Not crying, fricking bawling. I can say that has never happened to me over a TV show. I'm sure the alcohol and the tiredness helped that a little though.

Oh, and it was manly bawling too. *grabs his crotch and spits*

Me too. :lol

I had papertowels blotting my eyes and blowing my nose and the whole deal. I'm actually a little scared to rewatch the episode with my wife.

I think that the emotional ending is a distraction from of the many questions that needed to be answered if you ask me but who am I just a viewer like yourself. But I do have one question to all why is the smokey creature is label as the bad guy because he found out that his adopted mother killed is real mother and because he wanted to get off the Island? Maybe I'm missing something here please help.

Because he was willing to leave the island regardless of the consequences to anyone else in the world.
