I noticed it as well, did he go back to Thailand through the magic box?! :google

I've had no problems with the pacing of the show this season... until tonight. That was a hell of a filler episode. It sort of felt like a clip show.

I kind of figured Nikki and Paulo weren't dead when they kept showing their faces. And when Vincent dragged the blanket off of them, I knew for sure. It also reminded me of a episode from the New Twilight Zone.

I think there was an old twilight zone episode like that too. A guy was in prison and makes a deal with the guy who buries the dead for the prison to dig him up on such and such night. So the guy fakes his death and gets buried, when he comes to he lights a match and sees...the guy who is supposed to dig him up is the deceased.

It was funny to see them in all the background stuff like Tom suggested...but was there a point to the episode or bringing them on at all?

EXACTLY!

And would Sawyer really throw away a bag of diamonds? No way. Besides the obvious future value, you'd figure he would think he might be able to bribe one of the others one day.

Serious derail episode.

Loved this episode - "don't all guest stars die?"

Nikki and Paulo sure got around though - discovering everything before anyone else.

So apparently the entire purpose of Nikki and Paolo was just to build up to a "fun" throwaway episode like this. I got a kick out of the self-referential comments about killing off actors, featuring appearances from just about every season one character who has since died.

I would have loved to have seen Nikki and Paolo serve some higher purpose, but at least they are dead now. It seems like the producers were really just amusing themselves by introducing useless characters for the purpose of killing them without adding anything to the show. Had they impacted the ongoing storyline in some manner on their way out, they might have become memorable or iconic characters as promised. But that didn't happen.

Anyway, they have gotten their "hip" postmodern episode out of the way, and now the producers can get on with the real plot.

(Cough... Girl fight!! Cough...)

:lol It was fun to see Billy Dee Williams too. I like the episode her did of That 70's Show as minister counselor to Eric and Donna and he related everything back to Star Wars. :rotfl Was great.

No doubt, what a wasted episode! :horror

Who is writing this show anyway, they were even poking jokes at themselves - I mean, how many times did Sawyer say, "who are you?" :monkey1 Sawyer was completely out of character as well, really, he would just leave the diamonds there.

Blah, it is just so hit and miss this year. :maul

I am just glad they ended up being buried alive. I thought for a second when it showed them shoveling the sand into the graves and it didn't look like much was filled in that they would have them wake up just in time.

Do you think that they will stay dead? :monkey4

It seems like a long way to go just for this one episode. It's like a joke with a long set up and no punch-line.

And it's nice to know that Paulo knew about Ben's plans and didn't bother to tell anyone.

Would they have believed him anyway, it seems no one even knew who he was?! :monkey1

Personally I enjoyed the episode (and not just for Billy Dee's pimp cameo---- eat it IRISH :rotfl ). After having people speculate for so long about these two nobodies and how they suddenly appeared this season it was very original in how they were finally "explained" through their "flashback episode". There was so much commentary in the episode into how each episode is dissected that I loved the walk down memory lane through their eyes (we should have gotten Ethan---- he's very helpful)... Enjoyable, and hardly a throwaway I think. You need these lulls to balance out the overall story arc--- yes this might have been an opportunity for the writers to kill some time with nothing of essential inteterest to the overall story arc--- but quess what? It was surprising and not at all what people were expecting. With this episode and how BSG ended their season (no spoiling going to happen here) it was a good week for original surprising episodes in some of tv's best shows--- now if Heroes would just hurry up and get back on the air things will be alright with the world.

Well, as Locke said last night, "Things don't stay buried on this island."

Or as the producers have said, "Just because somebody dies on Lost doesn't mean you won't see them again."

Or as the TV Guide said this week, "Boone: Ian Somerhalder. Shannon: Maggie Grace. Daniel Roebuck: Dr. Arzt. William Mapother: Ethan Rom."

But I think they were totally intended to be redshirts from the beginning, and I don't expect to see Nikki pulling a Kill Bill any time soon.

My problem was that the idea was not original. This scenario has been played out in "the Tales from the Crypt" books many times over. This is a classic scene for a lot of horror series. I personal liked the episode but it was not anything new or original.
