But, from a more "behind the scenes" note: the reason Ben's not in the church, and the reason no one is in the church but for Season 1 people is because they wrote the ending to the show after writing the pilot. And never changed it. The writers always said (and many didn't believe them) that they knew their ending from the very first episode.

I'm calling BS on this diatribe purely because of this statement. Juliet, Libby, Desmond and Penny are all in the church, and never appeared in Season 1.

Perhaps they knew they wanted to end it with them all dead and in an afterlife, but who was there at the end changed as the story developed.

Do you think that the sideways universe is meant to represent a place that everyone goes to before their ultimate destination, or do you think it was unique to the Losties.

The island was "magical". Was it the island and the fact that all of these people had been there that made it possible for this group to make the sideways universe?

Were all of the people in the sideways universe "real"... actually no, not all were. David was never a living person.

Was the sideways universe a kind of "matrix" in which the only real people were those who were connected through the island? All the other people (i.e. the whole world) were part of this matrix or structure in which the Losties could reunite.


Anyone have thoughts on this?
