Better not be a video game, or a dream, or a a group coma or my foot is going through the TV!

:lol.........that would be the cheesiest way out to explain lost. and to think at one time they said that everything was a plausible explination................i think they are beyond that now & the writing went past what they could realistically explain & still keep us interested. still a simplistic ending as a dream, video game, whatever would be lame lame lame !!!!

Jeremy_Bentham_Auto-Icon.jpg

As requested in his will, his body was preserved and stored in a wooden cabinet, termed his "Auto-icon". Originally kept by his disciple Dr. Southwood Smith,[13] it was acquired by University College London in 1850. The Auto-icon is kept on public display at the end of the South Cloisters in the main building of the College. For the 100th and 150th anniversaries of the college, the Auto-icon was brought to the meeting of the College Council, where he was listed as "present but not voting".[14] Tradition holds that if the council's vote on any motion is tied, the auto-icon always breaks the tie by voting in favour of the motion.

The Auto-icon has always had a wax head, as Bentham's head was badly damaged in the preservation process. The real head was displayed in the same case for many years, but became the target of repeated student pranks including being stolen on more than one occasion. It is now locked away securely.

There is a plaque on Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster commemorating the house where Bentham lived, which at the time was called Queen's Square Place.

I'm looking forward to the explantion of it all. I have faith they've been careful to find explanations for everything. If not it'll be annoying, but I can live with it. I wouldn't mind magical or paranormal explanations. But then again what do they consider plausible, a paranormal explanation is plausible to many people. Although there will need to be some sort of special after the finale where they go through and explain certain scenes and such because there's so much who can keep track of it?

I always feel like I'm stating the obvious when I bring this up, but I think anyone who is a hardcore fan of the show owes it to themselves to check out the official LOST podcast. It only runs while the show is airing but you can go back and listen to the old ones any time. It's basically 20 minutes a week of showrunners Damon Lindleoff and Carlton Cuse discussing the show, answering (or clearly NOT answering) fan questions, and occasionally getting wildly off topic.
They've gone on the record as saying there will be Michael Crichton-esque pseudo-science explanations. And while they won't explicitly explain every single thing that's happened, you won't be scratching your head at the end, they aren't going to tell you "it's all magic!" (though the paranormal is not off limits) and there will be no Sopranos cut-to-black. There is a definite ending that has been in place since roughly the second season.

I'm not a big enough fan to listen to the podcast, but its good to know they aren't going to cheat us with the ending.

Wow this is a huge thread! No time to read through it now.

Overall I enjoy this series, though I feel the storytelling is much too drawn out--for ratings, presumably.

I don't like the indiscriminate killing-off of characters, and my favorite Season was probably the 2nd one.

Yeah I agree, that's my only complaint about the show really, but its enough I've considered not watching it anymore. That one season dragged on forever and nothing hardly happened until the end. And these half seasons annoy me, but I'll give the show people the benefit of the doubt and trust there is good reason for it.

HA, well I actually DID stop watching after Season 1, since I was convinced the writers had no idea where it was going and were just biding time.

Only fairly recently for some reason I decided to check out Season 2, and got back into it.

Now I'm caught up, and feel like they could've easily made 10-12 episodes and told the same amount of story they have in 3 seasons.

I don't know if I would condense it that much, the characters are enjoyable so I don't mind spending some time on characters even when the plot isn't progressing that much.

I want to try this--where are you getting it from?

dharmawantsyou.com

and this week Damon and Carlton have sent out their second email with codes to see a sneak peek of the new premiere, interview with the actress that plays Charlotte, as well as a look at the season 4 dvds coming out in Dec. they're filming ep 9 now and writing ep 11. Apparently ep 5 has "crazy sound effects".

Kate is running again, this time with Aaron who she calls 'Goober' because some mysterious someone is forcing her to get a blood test to determine if she really is Aaron's mother. "say goodbye, baby".

But then you would have had to call the show Heroes. :D

They could condense the whole series to 12 episodes....and it would all be meaningless.
Other than a stretch in Season 2 I've never been bothered by the pace. In fact, I actually kind of regret the non-stop short seasons because there is precious little character stuff. I'm not complaining, because the plot demands it, but LOST is just as much about the characters as the island. If you're watching it just for answers, you're watching the wrong show.
There are enough TV shows, like Heroes, that not only ask but REQUIRE that you turn your brain off. The makers of LOST are aiming for great television and more often than not achieving it.

it's laughable to me to think this story could be condensed into a handful of episodes. The plot of most movies, books, and stories could be told in a couple of sentences. To do so would be meaningless. Reminds me of the 5 minute Hamlet Tom Stoppard wrote. This is not a show for those with 3 second attention spans.
