LOTR will rock at SDCC
(Disclaimer: maybe I should say *planning* to rock because, well, as I've explained in posts past, you just never know until the actual day! SO many factors... but I *can* say that there are a couple of cool things up our sleeve, and the line is far from dead...)
Dusty,
I gotta believe, like many others, that there is just more DEPTH to the LOTR line than the Star Wars line. I am not knocking the Star Wars product, but the LOTR line just has more to offer in my opinion. Not to mention that making each figure is very trying to say the least. There is virtually NO similar parts to the first 4 LOTR figures while ALL the jedi has very similar outfits. Each of the many accessories for the LOTR figures are vastly different.
I, for one, am in this for the long haul with Sideshow...I would rather have 2-3 12-Inchers and a couple PFs each year that are HIGH quality like the ones we have than 5-6 more cheaply made figures. I count on Sideshow to bring us the entire fellowship plus a bunch more...I figure that they will have at least 20 LOTR 12-Inch figures before they even consider calling it quits.
Fellowship = 9 figures
Elrond
Galadriel
Arwen
Ringwraith
Witchking
Denethor
Knight of Gondor
Lothlorien Elf (Haldir)
Uruk-hai Warriors (Ugluk, Grishnakh)
Orc Warriors (Gothmog, Gorbag)
I would expect that they will stick with NAMED characters for movie tie-in rather than just have nameless army builders...but who knows. Based on the listing above, that is 21 figures...pretty good in just a few seconds of thinking of potential characters. They HAVE to make some baddies....

P.S. Thanks a ton DUSTY for reminding us to hang in there! I hope we see at least 2 new PFs and 2 new 12-inchers at SDCC as well as a couple new pre-orders. I like the Dioramas and Legendary Busts, but the 12-Inchers and PFs are my fav!
