Josh, they could have made a much bigger impact if they released each of the Fellowship in that famous FOTR marching line that we know so well. I could see myself dedicating a whole wall for that. Unfortunately 2 things marred that thought: 1) Frodo's face didn't live up to expectations, and 2) He's walking down a Moria staircase.

I'm sure we could have a lot of discussion about how Frodo could have been improved (or not, for those folks who happily ordered him), but all chances of seeing the FOTR line-up are dashed at this point. Personally I would like to have seen him walking in Shelob's lair because that was HIS scene alone.

Now, let's see . . . The fact that Lurtz was an LE of 2000 and Frodo at 1000 is some indication on the demand on either. We haven't seen Frodo ship out yet, so we won't know if there will be a fallout for him.

I suppose we could always drum up a poll to see who people would want to see next but I think that's already been done.

I think it's that the majority don't want to see the same character released over and over in so many various forms. Is that what you're talking about??

If sideshow did a Fell Beast PF, that would be a hot seller. Look how well that puny little FB/ML (by weta/SS) sold . It had a ES of 3,000....I think (I don't own it, because I think it sucks), then I am pretty sure a PF version with an ES of 1500would sell out.

Personally, I need to see more than 2-3 a year (maybe 4, one for each quarter). It's not that my interest will wane, but with so many great pieces out there, my money would be diverted.

I think 3-4 a year is just right, that way you could conceivably do a Fellowship member and two other characters in a year.

I would have loved to have that scene but that has ZERO impact on me wanting the entire Fellowship. Frodo's face didn't live up to somes expectations but as I've shown in that compairison pic its much better than what was initially thought. I know you went but most that where at SDCC I think came away pleased with Frodo.

I want the Fellowship. I really don't give a **** if they are posed in walking or not. The bond of that group was one of the most important things about the book and movies. Again, to not make those and skip one of the most important things about LOTR would be silly.

Why is it dashed? Frodo in Moria is from FOTR right? So why not the rest from certain points? I would like to see the Hobbits in their Hobbit Garb and Legolas from somepoint in FOTR but just do the Fellowship. It's about them. Not so much which movie.

Lutrz was so much in demand it's not even funny. Not to mention that I think a lot of folks went totally Chicken Little on poor Frodo.

I think GTG has been pretty much at the top of the list. Which means another from the Fellowship.

I do get folks want other people from LOTR/ME but not doing the Fellowship would be like skipping out on Luke, Han, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin, etc. from the SW movies. You don't skip the main guys!

Lurtz got hit with a lot of cancellations and was easily available as a second chance item. I expect to see some second chance Frodos as well.

If they were smart, they would give us a hint or sneak preview of the next piece in production before Frodo ships, so that there would be a surge in interest and support for the line. Otherwise, when it comes time to pay for Frodo, some people might hesitate to drop $250 on an apparently dead line. I think that ten months or more between announcements (looks like it will be a year) does not help to build momentum and get (or keep) people on board.

Just to add my 2 cents:

It's kinda trivial to argue about some of this stuff considering there has been no press release from Sideshow on what or what isn't being done. I'd have to believe all members of the Fellowship will be represented at some point. Yes, the line has progressed slowly up to this point but having 3-4 next years is more than enough. I'd rather they take their time and have them be frigging amazing than mediocre just to have them rushed out.

I'm happy that Star Wars & Marvel were highlighted this year because some fantastic pieces were presented. I think 2007 will be the year of LOTR's products, making everything in the world ok again....but what the hell do I know :D

Tom has a good point.

If there will be no new announcement before Frodo starts to ship, then there might be cancellations.
I know because even I am not so happy with this going.

I am a new collector and want to continue with LOTR PF, however, it will be a very big disappointment to me if the line will be suspended after Frodo.

Im specting a lot, havent heared anything about Frodo and im starting to think that i will use the money in another thing :monkey2

Exactly--and I think there are a lot of others who feel the way you do.

If somebody was on the fence between LOTR and Marvel, based on all of the announcements made this year, which direction would they probably go? The die hard LOTR fans amongst us will support LOTR no matter what, that's almost a given. However, I am concerned that some casual fans who are on the fence and might possibly support the LOTR PF line will find their interest cooling and their money going elsewhere. I want the line to stay as popular as possible so that I can count on a lot more pieces in the future--if too many people lose interest and the future of the line is in question, I will look like this:

I think people will be blown away by Frodo when it actually arrives.

As for the PFs, would love a Theoden/Strider/Eowyn.

This makes sense to me. That way Sideshow pleases both camps, those who want Fellowship and those who want something different.

Sideshow is not going to drop the line, at least not any time soon. Though waning, there is still a lot of interest for LOTR items and once Sideshow picks up their production that interest will increase.

My interest in this line is based solely on what characters Sideshow produces. I have no desire for a Fellowship line, but a Moria Orc, Easterling, PEW, Elendil, Theoden, Faramir, etc. would certainly pique my interest. Obviously a collecting choice. :)

In regards to Fellowship characters compared to other "cool" characters, the only thing I can go by is what we've currently seen and a $350 Lurtz has outsold a $250 Frodo.

Also, the NECA Legolas, Gandalf and Aragorn fit in well with Lurtz. Now they're obviously not on the same level as the Sideshow PF figures but they fit in well displayed beside them so I'm hoping that we don't get any of those three characters any time soon.

I agree with Radagaster and Nazgurl in that I would personally like to see characters like a Gondorian, High Elven, etc. before any Fellowship character. But if we do get a Legolas, please please please do him with his Helm's Deep armor! That being said, having the Weta Fellowship is probably influencing my opinion. If I didn't already have the set, I'm sure I would really really really want the Fellowship completed in PF.

I'd want them in a hurry to replace those. The NECA stuff is cool but let me see here NECA or SS PF? That's a no brainer right there.

Having them in POLY doesn't effect my wanting them at all. Though I would like to see those others made for those that want them. However, before any more of the Fellowship is made? NAH that would do nothing but kill this line. I think that is pretty much a guarantee. Now if they rotated it like 1 non and 1 Fellowship that would keep things interesting.

I think it's time for a poll. :faq

Regardless of where anyone stands on this whole Fellowship issue, one thing is for sure WE NEED SOME MORE LOTR PF!!!!!!! SIDESHOW CAN YOU HEAR US, WE'RE HAVING LOTR PF WITHDRAWL. :wacky

The problem with the "Fellowship marching" theme is that it requires quite boring individual poses. Especially detrimental for those who were only planning on getting a few choice Fellowship members (like Gandalf, Frodo, and Aragorn, or Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli or what have you.)

I wouldn't be surprised if the entire Fellowship appears in "battle ready" stances from Balin's tomb. A very iconic battle, everybody could be doing something interesting, it'd make for a nice Fellowship ensemble while still allowing cool battle poses for figures displayed by themselves.
